Rachel's POV
I could barely keep my eyes open any longer, we were finally in the car on the way home and I was so tired. Ct was backed up so we had a longer wait but finally they got it done and they found out grace does have lung cancer but it's really early stages so it can be treated. It's fair to say she didn't take the news well at all and she totally flipped out, we literally had to hold her until she calmed down which took about 40 minutes of her screaming, when she finally calmed down Harry got some information ready for her and we left.
We dropped grace off and Harry offered to go speak to her parents but she didn't want to so me Sophie and Harry all went home and decided to unwind a bit, so Harry made us some tea and we had biscuits while watching tv.
I was drifting into a sleep but I was still aware of my surroundings and could hear Sophie and Harry talking
"How do you think Rachel is doing?" Sophie asked Harry
"I don't know really, I know she's under a lot of stress but she just doesn't seem right but I think she just needs a friend, I know she's close with grace but with all this she can't really depend on her" he said sadly
"What about George? They seem pretty close?"
"You know I was thinking that and he is a really sweet guy but this is Rachel we are talking about, she barely lets me near her no matter George" he said laughing and I kind of smiled "but I wouldn't be surprised if she opened up to him but I'm worried that they may get too close"
"Oh haz, she's 18, she's not really a child anymore I'm sure she can handle herself and I'm sure if he messed her around she could sort it herself, and she has you for a brother so she will be fine I'm sure. Just trust her enough to choose for herself"
"I do trust her, she's grown up so much but she's still my baby sister" Harry said and I can hear the smile in his words. After that I didn't care to listen any longer so I let myself fall into a deep slumber to which I woke at 7am the next morning to the sound of my alarm.
Harry's POV
I dropped Rachel off at school and headed to the hospital. I told Rachel to call me if she needed me but not to worry if the teachers asked questions again, I told her she should try her best but call me if it's too much so let's hope she can get through this day.
After washing down my croissant curtesy of Sophie this morning who starts later in the day so she's still at mine, with my morning coffee I was ready to face the day.
"Sam Jenkins?" I called and young boy walked towards me "hi Sam come and take a seat" I said as I closed the door behind him and sat at my desk. "So what can I do for you?" I asked
"I think I've done something to my elbow" he said slowly
"Okay, have you fallen or had a bump to it?" I ask
"No I haven done anything that I know if, I just woke up in a bit of pain and it got worse through the day and now I can't really move"
"Okay no problem, when did this start?"
"Yesterday morning"
"Okay I'll take a look and see what's going on, so if you could just pop your jacket off for me" he did as I asked but I could tell he was in a lot of pain.
When he got his jacket off I felt as much as I could without causing him too much pain but it was hard to tell what's going on.
"Cause you can move it and your in a lot of pain it's hard for me to tell what's going on so I'm going to refer you to fracture clinic and they'll be able to take a better look but for now I'll put this sling on for you to try and take some of the weight of your arm, how does that sound?" I asked while I grabbed a sling from the cupboard
"That sounds great thanks" he smiled and I put his sling on and gave him an appointment card to hand the receptionist to get an appointment for fracture clinic and with that he left and I prepared for my next patient.
"Bethany Willis?" I called from my door and a girl approached my slowly with her mother almost dragging her here.
"Can't you just wait out here?" She asked her clearly annoyed mother
'No I don't trust you alone" she barked
"Bethany is fine to come in alone, I can call you if we require your help" I said politely and she nodded and returned to her seat while I led Bethany inside and closed my door.
"How can I help you?" I asked sweetly as she just stared at the floor
"It's nothing, it's not even worth being here I just want to go" she sighed
"That's fine sweetheart why don't you just tell me what it is and I'll see what I can do" I said and she finally looked up and smiled slightly "see I'm not that bad" I laughed
"I've just had this cold for weeks and everytime I seem to get rid of it, it'll come back again"
"Okay let's take a look at you" I said and put the thermometer in her ear "38.2, you have a slight fever but that's fine" I said and started to take her blood pressure which was fine. "Just going to listen to your chest, take some deep breaths in and out through your mouth for me please?" I asked as I put my stethoscope in my ears and she nodded.
"I can't find a reason for you having a cold for so long but you definitely have a cold, if it's okay with you we will get you to have a blood test to rule any problems out but it could just be that you keep redeveloping it, it might just be bad luck basically" I smiled and she nodded so I got the paper work ready and she was also on her way.
After seven more patients I was finally on my last one for the day.
