My New Doctor

Chapter 15

Harry's POV

I took the needle out and set it back in the tray but before I could even take my gloves off she was gone, she had run straight out and I tried to call her but she had already gone and so I would just have to wait until I get home after work, I would go after her but I've got two more patients today, Ella and a four year old boy with a possible broken arm, I should be out of here soon enough and I can then go home and check on Rachel if she'll talk to me that is!

Ella's POV

Another doctors appointment but I guess this time it'll be quite helpful because this stupid machine that is attached to my stomach isn't working properly and I don't know how to fix it, it turns off for a couple of hours and then when it comes back on it increases how much insulin it gives me, I don't know what could happen but I'm guessing it's not good and so I'm lucky that this appointment in now because I wouldn't have come otherwise.
I got to the doctors and signed in at the front desk and as I took a seat a girl ran out of Harry's office and for some reason that put me really on edge but I stayed there and waited until the receptionist called me and told me to go through.

Harry's POV

"You staying here li?" I asked liam as he was just leaning up against the wall behind me
"Why not, I have no patients until 6 o'clock" he replied
"Unlucky, I'll be out of here in the next hour or so" I replied laughing to which I relieved a slap across the head
I phoned out to reception to have Ella sent in for her appointment, a couple if seconds later and she knocked on the door
"Come in" I shouted
She opened the door slowly and shut it behind her
"Sit down love" she sat down "so how's everything going love?" I asked to which she shook her head and said "there's something wrong" in a very quiet voice and looking at the floor
"Okay love don't worry just tell me what's wrong" I said
"The pump keeps turning off for hours and then changing settings without me touching it"
"Ah I know what wrong, you just have to reset it to manual and not automatic" Liam said from behind me and Ella looked really relieved. Liam Wales over to her and said "can I have your pump for a minute please?" As he knelt down on the floor in forint of her. She pulled her pump out and gave it to him and he just clicked a few buttons and said he was done returning the pump to her.

Ella's POV

I've never been so relieved to see another doctor in here, I thought it was something serious but when he fixed it in a matter of seconds I felt so much better but now I actually had to stay for the rest of the appointment

"Your sugar levels have been a bit all over the place this week but I'm going to just put that down to the hiccup with your pump but I do want to see you next week to make sure they are back to normal yeah?" Harry said looking directly at me to which I just nodded my head.
"Okay so I'll just take your blood pressure, temperature, listen to to your heart and lungs and take a look at your eyes and throat and that's all for today"
"Okay" I replied
He took my temperature first then blood pressure and said that they were both fine and then grabbed his stethoscope and said "can you lift up your shirt a bit please" I did as he asked and he listened to my heart and then said "deep breaths please" so again I did as he asked and so he then moved on and shined a light in my eye and then asked me to open my mouth and say 'ahh' to which he said then said "Ella, have you had sore throat recently"
"Yeah"
"For how long?"
"Only two or three days"
"Okay well you seem to have tonsillitis but don't worry I'll give you some antibiotics to clear it up, you'll have to take three a day for a week and it should clear up with no problem" I nodded at him and then I was free to go, he gave me a prescription and an appointment card for next week and I left.

Harry's POV

"She's quiet" liam said after Ella had left
"She's much better than the first time I saw her, she wouldn't even look at me so I didn't stand much chance of getting her talking but she's doing pretty well now considering she doesn't like needles either and she's now living with diabetes" I replied
"Awh bless her, she seems like a strong girl though and so I'm not surprised that she's coming to terms with it so well"
"Yeah me too, it's a hard illness"
"Yeah it is, who've you got next?"
"Jay, his mother thinks he's broken his arm"

Jays appointment went quickly and it turned out he did have a break in his arm and so he's in a half cast and will return next week for a full one. Now I can go home and check on Rachel, let's hope she'll actually talk to me because I can't stand to see her so upset.
