Chapter 47

Harry's POV
When we got home I told Rachel that Sophie was on her way over so she had to go get changed and ready for dinner. I was making spaghetti and meatballs which I had already started cooking before I left to get Rachel.
I greeted Sophie at the door as Rachel came downstairs in her monkey onesie "haz! Look i can finally wear it again" I couldn't help but laugh at how exited she was, she's been waiting so long to wear it after her cast came off. We all walked to the table and sat and ate, I had agreed to work a night shift at a&e tonight because they are short staffed, I'm quite nervous cause I haven't worked there in over three years but I should be okay cause Louis is working as well. We were all just talking when Sophie mentioned her sister and I remembered what I was meaning to ask her "how is your sister soph?"
"She's okay now thanks" she smiled
"I've been meaning to ask you about Paul?" I said carefully hoping not to upset her, she smiled sadly as if she's been expecting me to ask "tell me to mind my own if you like"
"It's okay I've been meaning to tell you, Paul was my mothers ex boyfriend he seemed so nice at first but he got close to my sister, we thought he was just trying to fill our dads shoes since he left but turns out he was abusing her for a year and she didn't tell any of us, he's in prison now but she finds it hard to deal with men" she spoke calmly and then shovelled another fork full of food in her mouth.
"That's awful, how did you find out?" I asked
"We were involved in an accident a car went into the back of us, we weren't hurt but it's obviously standard procedure to check everyone on scene and I went into the back of the ambulance with her and when he lifted her too there wasn't a part of her that didn't have bruises there, she broke down and told me and we told the police who were at scene and he was arrested there and then"
"Some people are so sick, how could they do that?" Rachel spoke up and Sophie smiled and simply said "we all know not everyone has a heart of gold and some people think it's okay, no one will ever know why really though"
We all finished food and sat down to watch tv, we decided on watching iron man because Rachel loves them an Sophie had never watched them. It was now 7 o'clock and I had to get ready for my shift.
"Right I'm going now chick, give me a ring if you need me" I said to Rachel while Sophie grabbed her coat, "okay see you tomorrow" she shouted as we left.

I was two hours into my shift and I'd had the usual injuries, ranging from broken bones to bleeding eyebrows. I was just heading to my next patient who was a 19 year old male named Sam with a foot injury. When I got there I began my exam but it wasn't him I was worried about, he was with a young girl she looked about 16 and she was sat with her head down to the floor she had a big coat on which was done all the way up and joggers and trainers, that strikes me as odd because it is really warm in here today and the boy even had shorts and a vest on. The way she held her self made her seem scared almost but I didn't know why so I didn't say anything. After finishing the exam I decided to send him for an x Ray as I feel his foot is broken so I went and got the paper work and grabbed a porter and wheelchair so he could take him for me, I walked back into the cubicle to find them both sat exactly as I left them "okay George is going to take you down to x Ray now so if you can just jump in the wheelchair and he will take you down" he got in the wheelchair and the girl stood up "you'll need to stay here if you can love?" I asked her as x Ray is extremely busy and too many people there could be a problem, she nodded and sat back down. George wheeled him out and I thought it would be a good idea to talk to the girl so I went and sat facing her on the bed as she was on the chair "are you okay?" I asked simply at first and she just nodded "are you feeling okay? You seem to be a bit unwell" I said noticing how pale she was and she's now shaking. I seen a single tear fall down her cheek so I kneeled in front of her hoping that she would look at me "what's the matter sweetheart? I promise I won't hurt you" she just shook her head no at me and I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to upset her but I couldn't leave her like this.
"Are you scared?" I asked and she nodded "what are you scared of?" I said putting my hand on her knee and she jumped but didn't speak "are you scared of me? Of the hospital?" She nodded "okay sweetheart, can you tell me how you feel? Do you feel ill?" I knew she wouldn't speak so there wasn't much I could ask but I needed answers, she only nodded again.
"Can I take a quick look at you?" She just looked at me doubtfully "I won't hurt you I promise" I smiled and she finally nodded yes. So I got up and told a colleague not to let the boy back in yet and he said x Ray is delayed anyway but he'd keep an eye out, I shut the curtains and asked her to sit up on the bed and take her coat off. She did as I asked and she had a long sleeved black top on underneath which I still find odd. "Okay I'm just going to listen to your heart okay?" She nodded "I'm going to put my hand up your top but try to stay calm okay?" I listened to her heart which was going way too fast and then her lungs sounded wheezy as if it hurt her to breathe. "Have you been having trouble with your chest?" She nodded again and I decided to have a look "I'm going to have a look okay?" She didn't answer so j went ahead anyway, when I lifted her top she had bruises all over her chest and when I felt around I came to the conclusion that she had multiple broken ribs. "Has someone been hurting you sweetheart?" She shook her head violently as if she was scared of saying yes. "You can tell me if they have, you e got nothing to be cared of, your safe here" I said and she just broke down in tears, once she calmed down a little she said "it's Sam, he hits me and won't stop"
