Harry's POV
I got into work and checked my appointment list, I have 6 patients today and two emergencies slots which are still open for now, that could all change though.
I was sorting through a few files when I remembered the email I had yesterday, I went back to the computer and logged into my email account and opened the one off Dr Davies. It informed me that Sophie hadn't been attending any of her physicals or any other appointments made, I get told this because she is a member of my staff so I leave my office and head down to Dr Davies office.
When I got there I knocked on the door and entered
"Hello Dr styles, it's good to see you again, what can I do for you?" He asked as I sat down
"I received your email about Sophie Walsh" I replied
"Oh yes, I have sent out various reminders about her physicals I have been sending them for almost two years and I have even called her out in work to arrange an appointment but she never turns up, I have been in charge of her care for four years and I've only seen her for an appointment twice"
"Oh gosh, that's odd, I know Sophie well and it seems very out of character" I said a bit confused by the new information
"I was thinking since you work with her and your a very professional doctor maybe you could take over her care as she may be more willing to come and see you"
"If that's what you think is best I would be happy to do that"
"Okay I have the paper work ready if you'd just like to sign it" I signed the paper before thanking him and leaving.
When I got back to my office I called Sophie in and sat her down "thanks for yesterday, I really enjoyed" she smiled
"I enjoyed as well, thanks for coming but that's not what I asked you here for" I said, she looked at me with confusion all over her face "I have just been to speak with Dr Davies" she immediately out her head down "what's going on soph?"
"What do you mean?" She asked clearly becoming nervous
"You haven't been to any of your appointments in over two years, is there a specific reason for that?"
"I didn't know I had them"
"Soph I want to help you love but don't lie to me, he told me he came and made an appointment with you but you didn't turn up" i grabbed hold of her hand to assure her she was safe with me
"I I, I just don't like it, I'm sorry" she broke down in tears
"Hey it's okay love, what don't you like?" i asked while wiping her tears away
"I don't like being 'examined' by anyone it scares me and I know it's ridiculous cause I'm a nurse but I just can't do it I can't! Please don't make me!!!" She cried
"no one is making you do anything sweetheart, I have taken over your care now so I will be your doctor from now on!"
"Really?"
"Yes really love, so would you be willing to let me do an exam?"
"What now?" She asked fear laced in her words
"Yes now, but don't panic babe it's only me yeah?"
"O-okay I can do this" she stated as if trying to convince herself more than me
"Come over to the table for me then babe" I said "okay look at the wall behind me babe" I said as I checked her eyes, I then went and checked her ears nose and throat before moving on to take her blood pressure "just relax for me okay? Nothing is going to hurt you I promise"
"Okay" she said taking some deep breaths.
"Tight squeeze" I said as I took her blood pressure, and then her pulse.
I took my stethoscope off my neck and put it in my ears "I'm just going to pop my hand up your shirt okay? Noting to worry about" she nodded
I placed it on her chest and listened to her heart which was beating a bit faster than normal but I'm guessing it's just her nerves, "deep breaths for me babe" I listened to her lungs and then asked her to lay down and checked her stomach.
"Alright just a blood test now and you'll be done, I'll go and get everything ready just wait here and I'll be back in a minute"
I left my office and went to collect everything I needed before returning to my office, Sophie was sat with her head in her hands, when I shut the door she looked up and I noticed the tears running down her face "hey what's wrong babe?"
"I don't want it! Please I don't even need it I feel fine" she sobbed
"I'm sorry babe but you know I have to, it'll be over before you know it, I'm a pro remember?" I winked at her to which she giggles and nodded
"There's nothing to be afraid of when your with me I promise, I wouldn't do it if I didn't need to you know that you've worked with me long enough now yeah?" She just nodded again "just try and relax for me, do you trust me?"
"Of course I trust you I'm just nervous, I don't like it when the shoes on the other foot and I'm the one on the exam table that's all, I'm not really used to it"
"It's okay you don't have to explain yourself as long as you know I'm not going to hurt you okay?" I said as I wiped of her arm and applied the tourniquet, she just nodded at me while she closed her eyes
"Okay sharp scratch coming up, nice deep breaths for me" I waited until she exhaled before inserting the needle, she pulled away slightly and tensed up so I pulled her back gently and said "just relax soph, your almost done just stay still for me" I finished up pretty quick and sorted the blood into the correct containers and labelled them before cleaning everything else up.
"Come here sweetheart" I said to Sophie before giving her a hug
"Thank you and I'm sorry I'm such a pain" she said
"No problem babe, you've got nothing on Rachel, everyone is scared of something remember, you can get back to work now and I'll pick you up later and we can go out somewhere for food yeah?"
"Okay see you later" she said as she left my office.
I think I'm falling for her
