“Don’t be nervous Rose, or you’ll ruin your make-up!” Yui warned me.
Eto na ang araw na pinakhihintay nila.. Ang KASAL namin ni Zach.
“How can I, this is… Ugh! I can’t think STRAIGHT!” sagot ko sa kanya. Ninenerbyos ako. Paano na kung habang nagmamartsa, matapilok ako?
Parang gusto ko na tuloy magsuka sa KABA… “Namumutla siya. Do you think she’s going to make it?”
“She’d better be or else….” Yui eyed me.. “Focus, Rose. Naghihintay na si Zach sa baba.” I took a deep breath at lumabas ng kwarto. Dun nakita ko si Mama. She smiled at me. “Ang ganda ganda mo anak ko.”
“Siyempre, mama.. Mana sayo!” Ngumiti ako sa kanya at niyakap ko siya. “I love you ma.”
“Okay, let’s go downstairs.. Don’t forget to lower your heart rate, arraso?..” sabi sa akin ni Yui. I nod at her.
Nanginginig pa rin ako pero nawala na ang lahat ng iyon nang hawakan ako sa kamay ni Mama.. Tumingin ako sa kanya. “Ayan.. Okay ka na ba?” I nod.
The music was louder inside the hall. You can smell the fragrance of the flowers. I looked at straight thinking Zach is NOW waiting for me in the aisle.
“Ako na ang susunod.. Pagbilang mo ng lima tsaka niyo ako sundan..”---Yui..
Inumpisahan niyang magmartsa at ang ikinagulat ko, sumasayaw ng dahan dahan si Yui habang bumaba sa hagdan. I should have realized that having Yui as a bridesmaid was a mistake. I’d look much more uncoordinated and stiff coming behind her. And now, it’s our turn.
“Hawakan niyo lang po ako ng mabuti, ma. Para po mawala ang nerbyos ko..” sabi ko kay Mama.
“Anak, Relax ka lang.. Huwag kang kabahan. Think of Zach ONLY. Huwag mong intindihin ang mga audience” sabi sa akin ni Mama ng mahinahon.
‘One step at a time’ I told myself as we began to go down to the slow tempo of the march that Ara is playing. Hindi ko inangat ang aking mga mata hanggang sa naramdaman ko na nailapag sa lupa ang aking mga paa, though I could hear murmurs and rustling of the audiences as I step into the view.
Tumataas na ang aking mga dugo sa aking mukha; of course I could be the BLUSHING BRIDE.
My face went straight as the rhythm of the song went slow because all I see is HIM.. My lovingly Groom, my SOON-TO-BE-HUSBAND and the DAD of my Future CHILDREN. Katabi niya ang kanyang mga magulang which is sina Inang Reyna at Amang Hari sa tabi niya.
The March was too slow as I fight back to join my steps to the rhythm. Mercifully, the aisle was very short. At sa wakas, I was there. Zach held out his hand and kissed my mother’s hand. Mother reached out for my hand then placed it on Zach’s. I touched the cool temperature of his skin. He smiled at me and suddenly whispered: “You look magnificent”
