Of Being... (Poem)

OF BEING

I never cease to be amazed

By your beautiful smile.

Serene and tranquil,

No cares in the world.

Hair shines in the moonlight.

Flowing in the night,

Twinkling like the stars.

Heavenly.

I see your eyes.

Deep pools of black oblivion,

Windows to your soul,

Seemingly fathomless.

You turned around,

Looked at me.  Smiled,

That same beautiful smile

Lips silently forming sadness.

And then I wonder –

Suddenly, why?
