Bestfriends (Concha's Edition)

It was Concha's restaurant's blessing, his second resto, and though he was having the time of his life, thanking family and friends who came to celebrate with him, laughing and talking with everyone - it was making him tired.

It had been a long day - what with EB that morning, a short rehearsal for SPS tomorrow after that and then now, here at Concha's - for the blessing of his resto - it was taking quite a toll on his sleepless body.

He needed a breather. Maybe a bit of silence and some fresh air would do him good. So he went outside for a moment, leaving everyone inside when he was sure that they were all taken care of.

Once outside, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes, breathing out slowly as he sat down on the front steps of his resto.

Ma, alam nyo naman na para sa inyo din 'to, diba?

He smiled when he felt a gentle breeze swirl around him.

Thank you, Ma...

"Pare, congrats," he then heard Tuns, one of his best friends who came, sit beside him. "Layo na ng narating mo."

"Salamat, bro."

"Proud kami sayo, alam mo ba yun?"

He chuckled. "Sinong kayo? Kayo ni Joyce?"

He laughed even harder when Tuns slapped his head playfully. "Tumigil ka nga! Gagong 'to. Pero seryoso nga. Nakakaproud ka lang talaga. Kasi dati lang - mukha tayong mga ewan nun na nag-au-audition sa kung saan saan, tapos ngayon - kita mo naman kung nasaan ka na."

"Tayo. Anong ako lang? Ikaw rin naman, ah. Tsaka lahat ito, bro nang dahil sa Kanya."

"Oo nga, eh. Lakas mo talaga kay Lord. Ay, natin. Natin na, ha!" he added, chuckling when RJ looked at him funny.

They fell into a comfortable silence after that, just watching the cars passing by on the road, content in the presence of each other. Sometimes, all you need was someone who would be able to sit beside you and be a friend, whether in boisterous laughter or in silence. Tuns was both that and more for RJ.

"Nga pala," Tuns was the first one to break the silence. "Narinig ko yung tuksuhan nyo kanina ni Direk Mike."

RJ laughed sheepishly, his hand going to his nape in an act of embarrassment. "Sus, wala yun."

"Weh. May pa- 'I'd like that more I'd like that more' ka pang nalalaman."

"Eh totoo naman kasi..."

"Is she working tonight?"

RJ just nodded, a small smile appearing on his lips at the mention of the one woman he so badly wished was with him at that moment aside from his mother.

"Huy, yang ngiti mo! Malala ka na!!" Tuns teased, laughing at his best friend. "Hindi ba susunod?" he continued in asking.

"She'll try daw. Pero baka super late na."

"Oh, eh di magkakatotoo naman pala yung 'I'd like that more' mo."

"Gago," RJ retorted as his best friend just chuckled at him. "Bumalik ka na nga dun sa loob! Samahan mo na ulit si Joyce."

Tuns continued on laughing as he stood up and dusted his pants. "Pero congrats talaga, bro. I'm really happy for you. All the way up, man. All the way up. Alam mo yan."

"Salamat, Tuns," RJ smiled up at him, his dimple peeking through. "Sobrang salamat."

"Sige na. Bago ka pa umiyak," Tuns kidded as he patted RJ's back. "Iyakin ka pa man din. Magmuni-muni ka muna dito o di kaya tawagan mo na yung misis mo."

"Gago ka talaga! Pumasok ka na nga dun!"

RJ was then left alone once more, the laughter of Tuns echoing in the air. He smiled, shaking his head as he remembered their conversation - still thankful that Tuns has been his friend from the beginning of his showbiz career until now.

Little later and the silence of the night was broken again when his phone started ringing. He smiled as he saw the flashing name on his screen.

With a huge grin on his face, he quickly answered, "Yes, mahal?"

His night was finally complete.

A/N: I wanted to highlight his friendship with Tuns here. I love that picture that's attached to this story. Sobrang nakakatuwa na Tuns has been with him ever since. Totoong magkaibigan sila. Nakaka-happy ng heart.  😌💛
