"Dali! Tara! Dun tayo!"

"Teka lang naman, Benjie! Nakita mo naman siguro na mahirap tumakbo sa suot ko diba?? Tsaka-- HOY! MAG-INGAT KA NGA! MAHIRAP MADULAS DITO!"

Benjie looked back at Sinag, grinning sheepishly as he almost slipped on the wet and rocky ground leading to the cave he was pulling her to. They were walking home, with Sinag leading the way initially, right after she showed him a little bit around their quaint town of Pelangi as instructed by her mother.

When it suddenly rained. Hard. As in it was suddenly pouring cats and dogs.

Good thing that Benjie had the quick thinking of grabbing Sinag's hand and running to try and find shelter. He was actually amused at her at first when they both started to feel the little drops of drizzle before it poured. She looked up towards the heavens, eyes closed as she smiled, feeling the little droplets of water on her face. He didn't realize it but he was smiling with her as he looked on, amazed at the simple joy he saw on her face as she felt the drizzling rain.

Then she opened her eyes and directed her gaze at him, blushing as she noticed his intense gaze at her before mumbling her excuse that she was a pluviophile and loved anything that had to do with rain.

Then it poured.

And with his laughter and her indignant shriek because they were suddenly and quickly drenched, he pulled her to the nearest shelter he quickly found.

A cave.

"Tara. Dito na lang muna tayo," Benjie pulled Sinag in towards the entrance of the slightly dark cave, the cloudy and gloomy skies giving light only to the entrance of said cave. "Dito na lang muna tayo mag-patila."

Silence descended upon the two of them as both looked outwards towards the pouring rain, both of them suddenly mindful of the presence of the other beside them. Sinag shivered as she wrapped her arms around herself, rubbing her hands up and down on her arms to try and get warm. They were super drenched and as she tried to squeeze some of the water out of her hair, she almost jumped when she felt something drape across her shoulders.

"Sorry," Benjie muttered, blushing and suddenly flustered, as he fixed his blue polo shirt around Sinag's slender frame. "Medyo mukhang nilalamig ka kasi, eh. Baka makatulong..."

Sinag continued on staring at him, even as she pulled his shirt closer around her, unconsciously inhaling his scent that suddenly enveloped her. He then rubbed his nape with a hand as he tried to avoid Sinag's gaze and tried to get the water out of his own hair by raking his hands through it.

Sinag then took out a hanky from her dress' pocket and helped Benjie in drying his hair by patting the hanky on his head, prompting him to stop raking his hands across his hair.

"May pagka-gentleman ka rin naman pala, ano?" she said quietly.

Benjie simply stared at her and Sinag suddenly felt the heat in his gaze, aware that her wet albeit dark-colored dress wasn't hiding anything from his intense stare.

"Pwede rin namang hindi..." he replied quietly just as well, his gaze towards her unwavering.

Sinag met his stare, her hand still on his head as the temperature rose a few degrees inside that cave, despite the dampness and coldness in the air brought about by the rain.

Ever since her mother painted that blasted painting of her supposed "soulmate" on their wall - Sinag began having conflicting feelings. Couple that with Benjie's unexpected arrival in their town and with him looking exactly like her mother's painting - well, it was safe to mention that despite Sinag's fiery attitude and Benjie's breezy disposition - there was a definite and totally undeniable tension between them.
