"Pare, teka parating na siya. Ok na ba yung gel ko?" RJ asked his bestfriend, Sam, as they were hanging out by the basketball court of their school. "Huy! Sam! Maryosep 'to, kahit na anong titig mo dyan kay Patricia - hindi magkakagusto yan sayo. Ano na? Ok na ba yung gel ko?"

Sam glared at him. "Eto, parang tanga ka lang rin eh 'no? Para namang si Maine eh magkakagusto rin sayo. ARAY! HOY!"

RJ laughed despite hitting his friend upside on the head. "Ano na nga?? Maayos na ba? Malapit na sya, oh!"

"Oo na! Oo na! Peste 'to," Sam muttered afterwards and resumed on staring at the girl at the other end of the basketball court who was then practicing some cheerleading moves.

"Hi RJ."

"Uh... H-hi -- Hi, Maine," RJ stammered in reply making Sam snicker causing RJ to glare at him discreetly. "Kamusta?"

"Uhm, I'm all right," she shyly replied, blushing a bit, as she busied herself with getting some papers from her shoulder bag. "Ano... Eto nga pala yung readings para sa Physics project natin. Due pa naman next month so may time pa tayo." Then she reached out a stack of papers towards him, a beatific smile on her face which made him momentarily stunned.

He shook his head to try and clear it when he felt Sam softly nudging him, who noticed that he spaced out for a moment. Then he reached out to take the papers she was giving him, accidentally brushing his fingers with hers. They both gasped as they felt electricity flow between them, a tingle that started with that simple touch from their hands that they felt all throughout their bodies finally ending at their hearts.

He grinned down at her, dimple peeking. She smiled back shyly, placing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. For a moment, they simply stared at one another.

"Uhm, ano... Sige - mauna na ako, ha? Sabihan mo na lang ako pag nabasa mo na lahat," she softly said, breaking their stare. She waved a bit, spun around and started to walk away.

"Maine!" RJ called, realizing that he forgot something that was quite important for him to do.

Maine turned around once more, a small frown gracing her face, a question in her eyes as she tilted her head to the side and waited for him to speak.

"Would you be my date for prom next week?" RJ then asked, still grinning, even as Sam and some of his friends around them started hooting and teasing him.

She smiled, blushing scarlet then with a roll of her eyes, she nodded and shouted back, "Ok!"
