For bankingonkismet - for that very beautiful dream and imagery. 💛

Dei had always known that faeries exist. Ever since she was a child, she always knew. She didn't know it at that time as she simply thought they were her playmates but her mother would always catch her talking to someone or something invisible to her eyes which would prompt her to think that Dei simply had an imaginary friend. Until such time when she couldn't explain to her mother where she'd been and how she was getting all these little... trinkets that were not from this world.

As she grew older, she started to realize what they were. She started to ask questions. She started to ponder further. Until one by one, her friends started to drift away when she started to question them more. That was when she explained to her mother how she knew of them. And that was when her mother also with widened eyes started to feel afraid for her daughter for being able to see and speak with these... creatures.

What made her become curious and curiouser, however, was a soft muttered statement from her mother when she told her all these things.

"I knew it. Her father must be one of them."

"What's this?"

"A peacock feather."

"This doesn't look like a peacock feather."

"Why do you say so?"

"Because peacocks do not have these colors."

"Well, the peacocks from here sure don't."

"You mean...?"

"Yes."

"I'd like to see one!"

"Are you sure you want that, Dei?"

"Yes! Of course!"

"Are you ready to come away with me then? Are you ready to leave all these behind? Are you ready to finally accept who you were always destined to be?"

Dei suddenly woke up, slightly panting, a "yes" threatening to escape her lips. She clutched her chest as she tried to catch her breath and calm her racing heart.

A dream. Just a dream.

She closed her eyes one more time and placed her arm on her face as she tried to go back to sleep. It was still dark out and she knew she probably still have two to three more hours before her alarm would wake her up to go to school.

Just a dream, Dei. Nothing more.

And yet, it was the same damn dream she was having for the past three months.

The same conversation.

The same unusual looking peacock feather.

The same red brick wall where she always sat.

The same windy grass field.

The same setting sun that was orange and pink in hue as these same colors splash across--

Him.

The same faery.

Because she knew he was a faery. With his clothes, his pointed ears, his unusual lilting speech, his golden eyes...

And that goddamn bedimpled grin.

Dei sighed. She knew she wouldn't be able to sleep anymore. So she slowly sat up, so as not to wake her roommate and stretched, before standing and walking towards her little fridge to take out a chocolate milk.

Might as well study again. Wouldn't hurt since I have exams in Chem at 8.

She then walked towards her little study nook and took out her thick chemistry book and started to read, taking careful sips of her chocolate milk. Fifteen minutes later and she closed it, frustrated because she realized she was staring at the same page and wasn't taking in even one single word from the book.

She groaned quietly as she leaned down and rapped her forehead on her study table.

Why can't I get you out of my head?? I know that I know you! I just can't remember from where. And that feather...

She slowly opened her desk drawer and there, in all its shimmering glory, was the peacock feather of her dreams - so unusual, so colorful and so large that one would think it was man-made. Except that it wasn't.

Because it's of the fae.

Dei suddenly yawned, surprised that she was all of a sudden sleepy when just a few moments ago, her whole being was wide awake. She slowly stood up to return to her bed, figuring that sleep finally was able to catch up with her.

And as she laid her head on her soft, downy pillow, as she closed her eyes and her mind started to walk off to dreamland - a ghost of a whisper escapes her lips unconsciously.

Rich...

A/N: This is going to be a multi-chaptered fic. I won't get to it right away, however, but this already has a plot outline. It just needs to be written. When that would be - I don't really know as of now. Ehehehehe... 😅

But be rest assured that this would be continued. Watch out for it. ☺️

Thank you for always reading!
