Almost time....

Only two more weeks till school starts back up again. Aiden says we will be going back up to the surface soon. We went up last weekend. Emerald and I visited my mom. She said that Emerald's mom was distraught. She also said that she didn't know where she was and that she was searching everywhere for her. Luckily, my mom saved her tail and told her that the two of us were on a camping trip at my uncles farm in northern Florida. Emerald's mom did ask my mom to tell us to go explain to her when they got back, though, which we will. We just don't know how. We went by Emerald's house after that, but her mom wasn't home. We are leaving to go up to the surface tomorrow. Aiden, Tavien, and Alyssa said to pack everything we think we may need. We are staying up there the entire year, and there are some clothes down here that are really pretty so i'm definitely taking those.

"Hey, Sera, can you give me a hand with this?", Em called out from across the hall.

"Yeah. In a minute.", I called back. I started walking out of my room when I saw Kai helping her with her bags.

"Never mind!", she yelled thinking I was still in my room. "Oh. Oops. I don't need your help anymore. Kai's helping me." She giggled and walked off with him to put her bag up.

- back on land -

Two more weeks?! How did summer go by that quickly? Just last week I agreed to help my dad. I can't believe that Aiden is coming on land either. Ella will freak. I haven't met the rest of his family yet, but I hope to this school year. See, this is Aiden's and mine senior year. I'm so pumped. This will be the best year ever. Aiden and I are even planning on going to the same university - MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Mers are naturally really smart, so I wouldn't be surprised to find tons of other mers going there as well. Of course, there are other smart people colleges out there. Still, I just can't wait!

---------------------
- under water -

One more thing.... "There!", I gasped. I am FINALLY done with my stuff! Now to take my bag up. There's a boat docked on the surface on a private island owned by the mers. That's where we are putting our bags. I mean, seriously! Who would not think it odd that a bunch of teenagers are dragging suitcases - water proof suit cases, mind you - out of the sea and onto a beach - deserted or packed. That's why there's a boat. So it looks like we were on a boating trip. The sly ideas these merpeople bring up. I felt a smile creep up onto my face. Well, better start lugging this up. My smile slipped from my face as I took one look at the bag again. Noticing the size of the bag for the first time, I thought about just collapsing and sitting there til someone helps me. I started grumbling and thinking whether or not I should just leave it here and go get one of the guards to help me. Maybe I shouldn't have packed that much stuff..... Hmm oh well! I'll just get Zane. Zane's nowhere in sight. I thoroughly inspect the outside if the bag. Oh. It has wheels! Yes! I tilt the bag up to rolling position, which is straight up, and roll it out happily to the doors for the dry/wet room. Standing there in front of the doors is Zane with a smug look on his face.

"Seriously?", he said. "It took you that long to figure out that the bag has wheels?" He walked over and grabbed my bag and walked into the dry/wet room with it. I followed him in.

"Ha ha. Very funny.", I replied. His smug look is still on his face. "Wait. Why were you waiting for me down here instead of at my room? You knew I need help with my bag.", I said as the room filled with water.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Well, I just thought that you wanted to feel accomplished." He smiled.

"Well that's sweet. I guess." The room was finally filled up with water. I floated up out of my seat and flicked my tail a little bit. After a few seconds, the door opened and Zane and I swam out. We stopped just outside the door, and Zane swam over to the switch to the right of the door. He flicked it up and swam to grab my bag.

"Your dad said that the boat is directly above us. It should take only five minutes for us to get there."

"Ok. We might as well start swimming." After a minute Zane started complaining.

"Sheesh, Sera, what did you put in this thing? This feels like you put a ton of bricks in here." he shook the bag.

"well, if you keep shaking the bag like that, you just might crack open the piniata." He thought about it for a minute and stopped shaking it.

"Honestly, how much stuff did you put in this? If you felt my bag, it didn't weigh near as much as this does - neither did Kai's."

"Zane, there's one important thing that you must learn about girls. Girls require ALOT of stuff. Stuff like shoes, purses, jackets, shirts, skinny jeans, colored jeans, dresses, socks, under - ".

"All right! All right! I get it! I get it.", Zane cut me off. I wondering why he cut me off like that when the thought hit me.

"Zane, you are officially a chicken again!!!"

"What? No! What did I do this time?!"

"Well....apparently Chicken Zane doesn't like to talk about underwear!"

"No! That's not it. I just don't like it when girls start listing off long monolouges."

"Uh huh. Sure it is." Zane started pouting which made me laugh. He looks at me with a weird face.

"Why do you laugh at my pouts?", Zane asks me.

"Why?! Because they are funny! That's why!"

"Uh huh. I'll get you back later. We are almost at the boat."

"Ok. And i'll be watching.
