Cake

Well, I have Homework, so i may be quick. I don't know. Remember, vote and comment!

We all swam for a few hours at least, being very careful to not be seen. Zane finally popped up,"Hey, umm... Didn't somebody bring cake? It is a birthday party after all".

"Hmm... I guess you're right. Hey, Em. Who brought the cake?", I asked her.

"Don't look at me.", she said casually. 'She's hiding something', I thought.

"Well, I guess no cake means a ruined party.", I said slyly. "And a ruined party without cake means poor chicken Zane here is gonna cry. *Sniff* *Sniff* I started fake crying.

"Hey!!! I am not a chicken! I told you that at the school! I do not cry!", Zane shouted at me.

"Sssshhhh!!!!" We all shushed him. And he just stared at us with a blank expression on his face.

"Mmm hmm.... Very mature, guys."

"Urghh!!! Fine!!! Your mom is bringing the cake!!!", Emerald blurted out.

"What!?! My mom is bringing the cake? She doesn't know about our secret. Somebody, quick what time is it?", I asked.

"Umm... it's 5:59 P.M. - make that 6:00", Kai told us checking his watch.

"Em, what time is she going to be here with the-"

"Surprise!!!", my mom yelled, cutting me off. "Happy Sweet Sixteen you two!!!"

"Mom! No! Don't come down here!" She was already standing down at the water by the time those few words escaped my mouth. She was standing there with her mouth agape and a slight smile on her face.

"My daughter's a mermaid.", she was laughing slightly to herself. She kept mumbling that and laughing to herself like she was crazy.

"Mom, why don't you sit down." I lugged myself out of the water and quickly dried my bright blue tail off. As soon as it was dry, it disappeared, the scales fading back to skin. My sparkly yellow bikini slowly made its way back into view again along with my skin. My mom's face changed from a look of insanity to a look of horror then to a look of awe. She sat down and tried to gain her composure. After a few minutes, she finally said,"W-what just happened?"
