Secrets Revealed

"Well, as you all know, we have something to discuss with you all.", Mom said.

"Your mom is a shifter, which means you are, too.", Dad says pointing at us.

"Ok. Question.", I said.

"Yes, Sera?"

"What's a shifter?" Everyone looked at mom and dad waiting for an answer.

"Nobody knows what a shifter is?", Dad asked. Everyone shook their heads. He looked at mom.

"Well, I guess that's what we have to talk about, then.", Mom commented.

"Shifters are people who are related to creatures, like us, that humans mark as mythical. Merpeople, werewolves, vampires, and many others are put in that category. To humans, we don't exist. That is why you must be very careful at school so that you don't show what you really are. There is a werewolf pack around here that has teenagers that go to the same school that you will be going to. I know of a few vampires that go to the school and a couple of other types, too. Besides those who can enhance into one type, there are those who can change into all types. They are called pure shifters."

"Your mother is one of those people." We just stared at them.

"So, that makes us-", Alyssa started

"Pure shifters.", Mom finished. "Or, if you prefer, royalty."

"Mom, we're all ready heirs to the throne in the mer kingdom.", Tavien stated.

"Not that line of royalty.", Mom corrected. "The pure shifters are also descendants of a long and ancient royal line - a line not over just one type." We all stared at her with wide eyes.

"So, you're saying that Em and Sera-", Zayn said.

"Uh huh."

"And the others-", Kai added.

"Yep."

"Are like top their royalty over everybody?", they both finished.

"Yes! Haven't I been saying that?", mom exclaimed. I felt like I was about to faint. Either Em or I are going to be rulers over all the types of shifters in the world. Oh boy. "All right. Enough talk of world leadership. It's almost eight. Let's all get ready for bed. You have school tomorrow.", she said pointing at us children.
