Shifting

After ten minutes of maneuvering the water, mom called us over. "All right. Now comes the tricky part. Kai, Zayn, you can go do whatever." They noded and ran over to the swing set in here.

"Now, we're going to attempt shifting." She glanced down at her watch. "6:00. Just enough time. All right, time to get moving. We only have an hour left. Ok. Everyone, get in a line side-by-side to each other facing me." Everyone got in position. "Good. Now, close your eyes and relax. Lets start with.....a wolf. It's a pretty basic shifting. All right. Just focus on my words. Concentrate. Picture your body morphing and reshaping. Imagine your face elongating, your hearing sharpening, and your teeth growing larger. Just concentrate on doing that and only that." Just then, my breathing picked up pace. I felt my face and limbs changing shape. Alyssa's breathing picked up, too. I could hear growling and, oddly enough, the water fountain running on the far side of the room. I couldn't feel any more changes, so I opened my eyes. My vision changed. I could see sharper, clearer images. The water fountain was still running, so I turned around to see Zayn drinking from it. I ran over behind him quietly so he couldn't hear me. When I was right behind him, I growled loudly, causing him to start running which caused him to run into the wall. He fell on the ground on his backside. He turned around to face me and started crawling away from me. He was shaking with fear. Kai was right behind me shaking with laughter. He took out his camera and took a picture while Zayn was still on the ground. I took this moment as an opportunity. Whipping around quickly, I growled loudly in his face which caused him to stop laughing. He started mouthing sorry to me. Then his eyes widened, and he climbed rapidly to the top of the jungle gym. I turned around to once again face Zayn who, by this time, had disappeared. I looked around the room and found him making a run for the jungle gym. He turned his head and saw me looking at him. His face visibly paled as he ran harder. Realizing I was probably going to make him have a heart attack, I walked over to the jungle gym which, by now, Zayn had scrambled to the top, leaving me on the ground. I looked over my shoulder to my sisters, brothers, and mom who were all laughing their heads off. Everyone was either rolling on the ground or holding their stomachs from all their laughing. I turned back around and started climbing the jungle gym. Kai and Zayn started climbing down and made a break for the tunnel slide. Everyone watching were now audibly laughing. Kai got the clue and stopped running. He grabbed a water bottle from his pocket and sprayed it in the air. He morphed it to be a cage and levitated it in the air. Just as I ran under it, he froze it and it fell, capturing me inside. Remembering I had my mind talk, I tuned into to their conversation.

'Ha ha ha. Nice job, Kai.', Zayn laughed.

'You think so?', Kai replied.

Before they could say anything else, I jumped in. 'Yeah, it's not nice to the one in the cage, now is it?'

'Sera? Is that you. Are you the one in the cage? I thought it was one of the boys over there.', Kai nodded to where they were standing.

'No, of course not, Kai, it's Pinochio. Who do you think it is?'

'Well....'

'Uh, Kai, not to ruin you moment or anything, but I think we should let her out before she comes after us for real.', Zayn commented.

'Yeah, let the wolf out before I break the cage down myself. And I will do it, you know. Then, I'll come after you two idiots. You didn't notice that I was the only one gone? Huh? Think boys!'

'Sorry, Sera.' they both mumbled.

'Yeah, you better be.', I growled at them.
