Confessions and Settling in

Max's pov

"Come here.", Dr. Johnson said. I walked over toward him. "Make sure she never knows who we are. I'm counting on you for that." I nodded. "If she ever finds out, it will be on you.", he said in a menacing tone. "Go, and remember our little talk." Nodding, I left the room.

Dana was sitting in one of the chairs outside Dr. Johnson's office. As soon as she saw me, she stood up. "Follow me.", I mumbled. We walked back the way we came from, except we didn't go back inside the wolves' cave. We went to the end of the hall to a door. I opened it and pulled out a work suit, a card holder, boots, socks, and a few hair ties for her. "This is your uniform."

I handed the supplies to her and watched her examine them. I was just like her at one point. I, just like her, thought that they saved me from hunters. I'm a werewolf, so we always have to be careful. They also told me that my pack was attacked and my mate, Hannah, was taken. They told me that they would do everything the could to help me.

Days passed, and weeks turned into months, which turned into years. I confronted them. They told me that they were still working on it. Later, another worker told me that the people running the zoo are the hunters.

I confronted the manager about it - a mistake. He threatened me with my mate. He said that if I ruined his plans or ever tried to escape, she would pay. I took his 'advice' to memory and kept to myself. I shuddered at the memory.

"Anything wrong?", she asked me. I shook my head. She sat down on a bench close by. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure", I replied.

"Why was I put in the werewolf cave?"

I tried to think of an answer. Just don't tell her the truth, Dr. Johnson's voice rang in my head. "Well, Dr. Johnson thought you were someone else."

"Well, do I smell like a werewolf or something?"

"Actually, you don't really have a scent. It's kind of a mixture of several scents. It's also very faint, but your strongest scent is werewolf."

"What, are you a werewolf, too?" I nodded. She looked as if she was contemplating this. "What about Dr. Johnson?"

I shook my head. "Nope. He's something different. He's a vampire-werewolf hybrid."

Her eyes grew big at this. "Wow. That's....interesting.

"So, how about I show you to your quarters."

"I'd like that. Thanks." Her green eyes shimmered. She looked so pretty. I.... no Max! Do not fall for her! She has a mate! I have a mate! "Are you all right?" I mentally slapped myself. She must have seen my mental fight with myself. I got myself back into focus.

"Yeah. Just fine. It's this way. You can have the room across from the werewolves." We started walking back in that direction. "Oh, I almost forgot. You have a roommate. Her name is Ashley." We stopped in front of the door. "All right. Here you go. Here's a key. Don't lose it." I handed her a swipe card for the doors in the zoo. "This key will unlock not only your door but also many other doors on the premesis. Again, don't lose it."

She rolled her eyes. "Okay. Okay. I got it. Anything else?"

"Nope. Nothing I can think of at the moment. I'll let you get settled.", I said and left.

I walked to my room and swiped my card. Walking inside, I closed the door behind me and sat down on my bed.

I sighed heavily. If I don't get her back soon, I don't know what I'll do...

Dana' POV

He left quickly without any other words. I shrugged it off and unlocked the door with the key. I walked inside and took a good look at the room I'll be staying in for a while.

It looked kind of like a dorm room. It has a bed on each side of the room with a chest at the end of each bed. There were two desks with a lamp on each of them.

Suddenly, I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I turned around to find a girl with blonde hair about my age watching me. She has green eyes.

I waked up to her, stuck my arm out, and introduced myself. "You must be Ashley." She nodded. "I'm Dana. We're going to be roommates."

She smiled. "It's nice to meet you Dana. The right side of the room is yours. I'll go clear off some space for you in the bathroom."

I nodded as she hurried off into the bathroom. I dropped my stuff off by the edge of the bed and sat down on top of it. Soon after, Ashley came back in the room. "All right, you're side is clear.", she said as she plopped onto her bed across from me. "So". She pulled her knees up to her chest. "What are you here for?"

I sighed. "I don't remember much, but apparently I was captured by the Hunters." She gasped.

"Hold on one moment." She got up off the bed, ran over to the door, opened it, and poked her head outside. She looked around and shut the door.

After locking it and pressing a button, she ran back over to her bed and sat back down in her previous position. She looked back and forth before looking at me.

"Ok.", she whispered. "This is top secret." Her face was dead serious. "Do NOT tell anyone I told you this. Got it?" I nodded.

"Good. Now, the same thing happened to me. I was captured by the Hunters. Then, Dr. Johnson and his crew 'rescued' me." She paused.

"I know who the Hunters really are."
