 C A L I X A

I exited the dining room quickly after finishing my food. My wolf was finally agitated by our mate and that was at his being late for dinner. I laughed at her childishness and headed to my study to look for some papers I'd been meaning to see since Tyto arrived.

'What are we gonna do if Tyto gets his memories back?' my wolf suddenly questioned.

I ignored her although her question peaked my interest. I hadn't really thought about it before she asked but she had a good point. If he did get his memories, he might as well go back to Silver Blood but he was already initiated into my pack and, begrudgingly, is my mate. I groaned in frustration and my wolf seemingly understood me and shut up for the time being.

Once I arrived at the door of my study, I sniffed the air and growled. Someone was shuffling their way quietly through my things and thought I wasn't going to detect them. Well they have another thing coming. I burst through the door and spotted no one, but my wolf told me someone was in the room just moments before but quickly made their escape once they sensed my presence nearby. I growled and sniffed the air again.

The scent of the wolf was definitely a pack wolf but not one that I recognized. It couldn't have been a spy from Nightfall Grimm because Alder had no reason to come digging for secrets, especially since he knew everything there was to know. Even with me killing his spies, it was like the goddess herself fed him information so it was no use hiding things from the crazy man. I turned my attention back to my study and decided to look around and see what had been dug through.

My papers on the desk were perfectly in order and the books on the shelf were aligned like I left them except there was one slight detail the intruder forgot to pick up on. There was a white feather on the floor that I use as a bookmark and I knew exactly the book it came from. Basilium Genus. Better known as Crown Family.

It was a rather old and boring book that Alder had given to me as a child since he took quite a fascination with the royal family and according to him it was the last copy of the book in existence. No wonder someone would be curious but my question was why? The royals had died a millennium ago and only the moon goddess can bring one back...

That's when it hit me. The moon goddess wasn't the only one who could bring back royals and not all of them were necessarily gone. When I first skimmed through the pages of the book, I saw a ritual in the back that had to do with blood of a royal to make another.

I quickly took the book from its place on the shelf and skimmed through it until I hit the end. That was where the ritual was supposed to be but to my dismay, the intruder tore out several pages from the end and left me with only a note:

'Don't worry about finding the pages, soon enough you'll have them back and we'll lessen your load even more.'

I let out an animalistic growl and crumpled the note between my fingers, which claws have now sprung out of. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself but I was still fuming with anger and I dug my claws into the palms of my hands, breaking the skin. I hissed and stormed out of the house, quickly stripping and shifting into my wolf. She howled with delight to be let out but anger quickly replaced her emotions of happiness and I took off into the woods at a quick pace.

The people around me would just see a blur of gray as I passed and I took a few laps around my territory before I was cooled down. By the time I was done I hadn't realized it was already the next day. My territory was fairly large so I must've been so caught up with my anger that my few laps took awhile to complete.

I huffed a few times to release my last bits of anger and made my journey back to the pack house. I saw my Beta Female as I arrived and she handed me a set of clothes, as if she anticipated my arrival. Gladly taking them, I shifted back behind a tree and slipped into the black jeans and tight fit black v-neck t-shirt.

"Thank you Illexi," I greeted making my way towards her.

She threw me a smile, "Yes of course Alpha, I thought you would be coming back soon. You've been gone for nearly eight hours."

"New record," I chuckled humorlessly, passing her and entering the threshold of the house.

I was greeted with the stale scent of my 'mate' and the mingled scents of recent pack activity. I ignored everything and headed into my study. Once I arrived I noticed the scent of Tyto lingering outside the door and let out a grunt of disapproval as I entered.

He was no longer there but I could tell he came in my study just four hours ago, most likely to inhale my scent since I am the only one who enters my private place. All other wolves who want contact with me must always wait outside the study or find me in my public office to discuss business with me.

I huffed and slammed the door behind me, still feeling the after effects of my anger coursing through my blood. After pacing back and forth, I finally felt calm enough to deal with the intruder who dared come into my territory and live to tell the tale. I frowned as I re-opened the book that they had come for and read through some of its pages. The last page that was still left in the book had pictures of the royal generation from about a century ago. They were a nice looking family but something about them seemed familiar. The family portrait in the book gave me chills as I looked into the creamy brown eyes of the young boy. He looked oddly familiar but I knew that couldn't be since they have been dead for as long as I can remember.

Just as I was about to get lost in my thoughts, the phone rang, causing me to jump a bit.

"Hello, this is Alpha Dunamis speaking," I answered formally, not wasting any time picking up the call.

There was a pause before the person on the other end spoke, "Hello Alpha Calixa, this is Councilman Clyve. I am calling to inform you that the council has scheduled a meeting about the recent disappearance of the Dawn Lupis pack and would like you to attend."

I almost let out a laugh at how ignorant the council really was. That just goes to show how easy it is to commit crimes and treason right underneath their senseless noses.

"Yes of course. Just give me a date and I will mark it on my calendar." I responded, not revealing I was behind the 'disappearance' of the traitorous pack.

I always thought I was somewhat of a vigilante of sorts. In my younger days as Alpha, I often took pack law into my own hands and have taken many lives, hence my reputation. The council never suspected a thing. They pitied my 'orphan girl' charade that I put on for them and I often was just allowed to slip beneath their radar. That must be why they still hadn't punished Wild Moon for any of our heinous actions yet. I must say, they certainly are a gullible bunch of leaders.

Soon Clyve spoke again and dragged me away from my internal mocking of the council, "That is great to hear. I will contact your Beta with the information by tomorrow. I'm sure you're quite busy so I won't bother you again, see you soon my dear."

"Goodbye Clyve." I replied, wishing for this conversation to be over.

"Yes, goodbye Calixa."

After we bid farewell, I immediately hung up and silently cursed him for interrupting my train of thought. Now I had to backtrack... What was my last thought again? Oh yes, the royal family.

I had never really thought much of the older lineage but looking at the picture. I knew that the child must be related to someone I know. The young prince's name was Ignitus Santorius and he was the last one in the book that was left. I knew he must have at least a few generations of family that preceded him but the thief took the rest of the tree with them. I stared awhile longer before it clicked.

The reason why the boy looked to familiar was he looked like Tyto!
