Wolves Without Hearts

☙ Chapter 31 ❧

☙ T Y T O ❧

I trotted alongside my little spitfire of a mate after we shifted into our wolves. I shook out my brown colored pelt and let my wolf take control and have his fun. I hadn't shifted in awhile due to work and the pack so my wolf was more than happy to take the reigns. I knew he was desperate to get Teva's attention and maybe Calixa's as well since we had been neglecting the bond that seemed to be suffocating and wringing my neck every moment I was without my mate.

"Let's go on without Ryder and Urza," Calixa spoke into my mind, "They can follow our scent trail to catch up."

I didn't reply and let my actions speak for me as I sprinted into the woods with Calixa not far behind me.

I heard the pounding of her paws and the huff of annoyance that came from her as she caught up to me. I let out a wolfish laugh and slightly bumped into her, making an explosion of sparks erupt from the single touch.

Her wolf yipped and emerged while Calixa was still stunned. I grinned at her and she licked at my cheek once we slowed to a jog. I allowed Ignis to take control and the two lovingly licked at each other for a while before my wolf had enough and tackled our mate and nuzzled her.

She whined and nudged our face with her damp nose before sliding her tongue over our face in a loving gesture.

"Ignis," her wolf sighed into my head, "I'm sorry Calixa is keeping us apart. Please wait for me a bit longer."

My wolf whimpered and replied, "I know my sweet Teva. I wish it could've turned out differently but I'm glad to have this time with you now."

I sighed as Calixa took control again and stepped away from us. She looked at me for a moment before shaking her head and trotting away.

Soon after she went away from me, Urza and Ryder appeared, nipping playfully at each other before noticing my presence.

"Hello Tyto," Ryder greeted through our temporary link, "Where is my sister?"

"She wandered off after our wolves played together. I think she's upset that the bond is getting to her." I admitted, shaking my fur.

Urza let out a huff, "Why is she such a stubborn she wolf? I can see that she loves you Alpha Tyto."

"I agree. But I believe my sister will give in soon enough. She just need time and I think she would appreciate if you gave her time." Ryder added, giving me a wolfish grin.

I nodded, "I know, but I'm curious. Is there a reason behind her behavior?"

I saw Ryder stiffen and he hesitated before answering, "Calixa's had it rough, even more so than myself. Our father wasn't the kindest man and she always protected me. I tried to stop her but it was no use. My father actually encouraged it as well. The worst of it was when he would make her drink liquid silver. Thank the Moon Goddess that she isn't mute but he would torture her and mention her mate. Every time he would see hope in her eyes that her mate would save her, he reinforced that if she accepted her mate, that he wouldn't want her... I think he may have even tried to... rape her... so she would be ruined for her mate. I honestly don't know the outcome, but I am proud of her for killing him while I was in a coma."

I growled lowly and my wolf whimpered and growled in the back of my head. We both wished that we could've protected Calixa from her father but we were fighting off our own at the time and building up a pack once he was gone.

"It's gonna take time Tyto," Ryder concluded, giving my wolf a nudge with his head before padding ahead on the trail, with Urza quickly scrambling behind him.

I sighed but knew it was true. There was nothing I could do but wait and try to prove to Calixa that I was a good enough mate for her, and that she could trust that I wouldn't leave her. I've waited this long for her so I'm not letting her go that easily. 

'I agree,' Ignis huffed as he surfaced from the back of my mind, 'I am not letting her get away from us that easily. Calixa will have to let Teva have her way sooner or later. Or decided that is what she wants as well.'

Nodding my head, I broke into a sprint to catch up with the others. I only hoped that my little spitfire would give in soon and we could be together as Alpha and Luna of Silver Blood, maybe even King and Queen of wolves.

A/N: Sorry this chapter is shorter but I have good news! My grades are better! So that means I can write more often and hopefully I can finish the book by 2017 but no promises. Tell me what you think about the chapter and if you think Tyto can get Calixa to fall for him in the near future! Also I'd really like to thank all of you for your support on my book and I know I couldn't have done this without you. There might be a second book in the future but I don't know ;)
