"We need to kill one of our own to kill all of them."
Those words haunted me as I entered my room after our search was over. The papers that Ryder found explained the necromancy spell and according to him, it wasn't his father's handwriting so someone must of given it to him.
They further explained that if someone were to try and kill a being brought to life with the necromancy spell, the being would simply regenerate and heal their fatal wounds. In order to completely get rid of them, you would need to spill the blood of a wolf that hadn't been involved in the spell and forge a weapon using their blood and silver.
That would mean one of the wolves from our pack or the rogue pack.
Ryder's mate would probably go against the idea of killing one of her old "pack mates" so that left us with one of our own pack members or even ourselves. It would be easier if we had prisoners but the time of dungeons was practically over. All packs still had a prison but they were rarely used since rogues weren't actually a problem. They were only used when the pack was giving a member a night of solitude if their wolf was not stable. The only reason I spent so much time there was because of that idiotic Beta, Visenic.
After a while of mulling over the situation at hand, I decided to go see my mate to help reduce my stress. Ignis immediately perked up at the thought of our mate and I headed out of the room. I could tell he was wagging his tail in happiness and I couldn't help but chuckle at his action.
'Don't laugh, you are just as excited,' he retorted with a wolfish laugh.
I rolled my eyes and came to a stop in front of her door, but before I could even knock, she opened the door.
"Come in, I could smell you coming from a mile away," she said, taking a step back and allowing me to enter.
I walked in and took a deep breath, enjoying her amazing scent that had worked it's ways into the walls and furniture.
"I'm guessing you are worrying about your father?" she questioned, taking a seat on the couch and raising an eyebrow in my direction.
I gave a short nod, "I don't want to kill one of our packmates to be able to kill him. Does the wolf have to be dead?"
She gave me a grimm look, "Yeah, they have to be dead. The spell requires blood from a wolf whose soul has passed from this world and hasn't been involved in the original spell."
"Well I have an idea..." I said taking a deep breath, "but you may not like it."
"Tell me," she encouraged, giving me a look that said I wasn't getting out of telling her now.
"Why don't we use an already dead pack member?"
She glared at me, "And desecrate their grave!? That would be dishonorable to the wolf and the Goddess herself! Besides, the blood has to be from a wolf who has died recently and we haven't had a funeral in over a year."
"Well, do you still have the blood from your sister that Ulfric used?" I asked, silently hoping she had kept it even though it might bring back bad memories.
I saw her hesitate before answering, "I think I might... I don't know if it would work though."
"She did pass on recently," I said gently, hoping not to make her upset.
She nodded her head and got up from her spot on the couch to search her desk. I saw her rummage through all the drawers before coming upon a box and pulling it out. She opened the box and pulled out a small metal case.
"I didn't keep the blood Ulfric used but I have vials of blood from her, Ryder, and myself. They were for testing reasons to see if our blood would be a match in case of medical emergencies. Also it helps if a pack member needs blood and one of us could help. Obviously Artemis couldn't because she was far too young but we just wanted to find out for the future." she explained, pulling open the case and grabbing a vial that had the letter 'A' on it with some data printed on the side.
I nodded and watched as she put the case away, keeping Artemis' vial in her hand. She walked over to her desk and pulled out the spell book and another box, looking at me as she did so.
"This spell could be dangerous," she said slowly, "and the silver is obviously dangerous as well. We will need to be careful when we make the weapon. It doesn't have to be fully silver but it is better to have it fully in order to assure your father's demise. The handle is the only thing that will be a different material so be careful with it."
"I am the one doing the killing?" I questioned, a bit surprised that she wouldn't offer to do it herself.
She shrugged her shoulders in reply, "It doesn't matter right now. I'll make three knives and whoever has the opportunity can strike and take him out."
"I understand."
"Good, now let's start..."
She began, "Et sanguis sanguinem meum..." but before she could continue, I felt a wave of nausea rush through me and found myself falling to the floor.
