 C A L I X A

A day has passed since we have arrived in Silver Blood and the pack seemed more relaxed and at ease than they did with Orion as their Alpha. I remember how jittery and jumpy they were when I came to collect my sacrifice but now they seemed more relaxed, even though they still cowered and flinched away in my presence.

We are currently piling into the pack vehicles so we can head to the council meeting that is happening soon and my wolf and I feel uneasy about making an appearance.

'Something is going to happen at the meeting.'  my wolf whimpered, nervousness clear in her voice.

I rolled my eyes, 'We'll be fine Teva, I am the strongest female there is and don't forget all the training we've been through. Not to mention torture.'

'I'm not forgetting,' she insisted, 'Just be watchful and make sure mate stays safe. He's not to his full strength yet. In my opinion he's lucky Orion isn't that strong in the first place or he'd be dead.'

I didn't feel like listening to my wolf's worrisome banter so I cut my link to her and sat silently in the front seat of a black SUV. For the whole ride I watched the trees and other foliage pass by in a blur while listening for noises, occasionally hearing the snap of a branch under the foot of a flanking Silver Blood wolf.

I carefully noted that Tyto didn't have the same inept senses that I have aquired over the years and the only reason he knew the wolves were there was he requested some scouts to watch for dangers from the woods. My wolf and I both knew we were better than our mate yet she still thought he was worthy of us. Her thoughts made me scoff and I kept to my witts and distanced myself from Tyto as much as possible. Teva kept bothering me with thoughts of how he looked at my body after we arrived in Silver Blood. I rolled my eyes but my body shivered. Curse this bond!

"Luna?"

"What?" I said, my voice coming out in an angry snap as I turned and saw Orion looking at me expectantly.

He cowered slightly at my harsh tone but continued, "You were spaced out so I thought you'd like to know that we are just ten minutes from the council."

"I know."

Orion looked slightly shocked by my answer but didn't question me. I internally snickered at him. Just because I was thinking about other things didn't mean I wasn't alert. Living with my father had taught me the discipline and attentiveness that I possess today and that is the only thing I am grateful to him for.

Once the car pulled up the the large council building, I couldn't help but admire the smooth white structure of the building, lined with gold and silver to top it off. I exited the car and made my way up the white marble steps, Orion following me quietly as I heard Tyto's car pull up.

"Luna Calixa, you should wait for Alpha Tyto to accompany you." Orion spoke quietly, making sure to be a few steps behind me.

I growled, "Do not tell me what I can and cannot do Orion."

"Y-yes, sorry Luna." he squeaked, bowing his head down.

My wolf puffed up with pride that her new pack already feared and respected her but I knew that she didn't think Orion was worthy of being the Beta of Silver Blood. He might be submissive but he is also a frightened coward and we both agree that he needs to be replaced.

Soon I was inside the large council building and Orion was hot on my trail as I made my way towards the meeting room. I had been here many times before when Orion was 'Alpha' of Silver Blood and when Dawn Lupis was still a pack. That reminded me that Clive and Salome should be in my territory ready to be tortured. I guess I'll have to tell Ryder to transport them to Silver Blood so I can personally torture them.
