Tomorrow was going to be my first day on the Gold Coast, Australia. I hated the thought of leaving my friends and my parents were going to drag me all the way out from Hawaii whether I liked it or not, just because Dad got a job promotion.

I had been moving all over the world because of Dads job when I was younger but it stopped when we arrived in Hawaii....and of course 7 years later we have to move again. With it, I have to leave all of my loved ones.

It was really upsetting because I had to cancel Sarah’s sleepover. She was my best friend and it crushed my heart and to see her that upset.

The next day was the big move. On the plane, my parents had tried to talk to me but I wasn’t going to start anytime soon. When we landed I took my suitcase, got into the taxi and didn’t say a word until we arrived at our house.

When we arrived it was the most beautiful white house I had ever seen. It was a two story house with a beach for the backyard and it wasn’t too far away from my new school, All Saints Anglican School. I did a little background research and found out that it is a Kinder-12 school. When I saw this my stomach dropped. This is going to be one hell of a big school.

Our new house was the sort of house that a celebrity would stay in, it was that much more fancy, in a modern way, to what I was used to. I must say my parents did well, it didn’t make the situation any better but lifted my mood slightly.

I went straight upstairs to my room and dumped my suitcase on the floor next to my bed. My room was amazing. I had my own plasma t.v, a view of the beach, en suite and a double bed. The colouring was mainly white. I was glad we lived so close to the beach. I loved it and I had just started learning how to surf a couple of months ago too.

As I walked halfway down the stairs my mum approached me.

“Liking your room?”

I just nodded.

“You could at least be a little more appreciative its a lot better than our house in Hawaii was” my mum said. She had a point, it was amazing.

“I’m sorry” I replied bluntly.

“Its ok sweetie” My mum sighed “you should go down to the beach and take a breather, you may meet some new friends”

“Ok” I said. I ran back upstairs and picked out my favourite green bikini, a towel, my board, and headed to the beach.

When I got to the beach I laid out my towel, picked up my board and headed into the surf. I must have been out for a while because I noticed the sun started setting when I came out.

I dumped my board next to my towel and started to dry off while turning to face the beach. Just as I did, there was this girl walking on the beach with her iPod in and she must have been looking at something because she didn’t see my board and tripped over it.

She was really pretty with brown hair, fair skin and a fair amount of black eye make up on. I felt really bad and jolted up to help her.

“Oh my gosh I am soooo sorry” I said, helping her up.

“Its ok” she said brushing it off “It wasn’t your fault I was looking at the sun set plus I had my iPod in. I haven’t seen you around before” The girl confirmed as she looked me over, giving me a nod of what looked to be approval.

“Yeah I’m new. I’m Kate”. I introduced myself with a kind smile, I was hopping to pull off.

“Erin” She stated clearly with a friendly smile in return.

The name Erin suited her, a pretty name which suited a very pretty self.

“You want to come for a walk with me across the beach?” Erin wondered, having a welcoming glint to her eyes as she said it.

“Sure”

Erin was really nice. She had lived here her whole life, I found out that she only lived 3 houses down from mine and she goes to All saints as well. At least I know someone to start a new school year with so far.

We talked a lot and passed a group of boys surfing, one of them came out of the surf and headed to the showers. I went into my own phase and started gazing at his beautiful blond hair, clear blue eyes and I couldn’t help but notice that he had the cutest smile ever.

Erin must have caught me gazing at him and called him over and before I knew it, he was walking over towards us. I immediately panicked because I went to an all girls school back in Hawaii and didn’t communicate with guys very well. It sounds stupid but I blushed at every hot guy I saw.

“Hey Cody” Erin greeted with a cheeky smile, and wink towards me. “This is Kate she’s new here” Erin pointed to myself, I stood blushing mad.

“Hey” he said looking at me. I let a smile slip my face as I slowly began to relax, that didn’t mean the blush went. NO, the blush had to stay . . .

“Hi” I stuttered out, I mentally groaned at myself for acting so childish.

“So where are you from?” I looked between Erin and Cody, before realising he was talking to me. I looked down at my feet nervously.

“uh-Hawaii ” I slowly spoke, looking up from my feet and at his friendly warm smile.

“Oh cool I have always wanted to go there. So do you know what school your going to yet?” He expressed, excitedly which caught me a little off guard.

 Oh boy, Kate say something!!!

“Same as us” Erin cut in.

“Cool” He smiled brightly, I felt my breath get caught in my throat as I was about to comment.

“Hey, Cody!” his mates shouted, called him over saving me from making even more of an idiot of myself.

“In a minute . . . well I got to go nice meeting you Kate, see ya Erin” Cody nervously, stuttered before he ran to where his friends were waiting.

When I got home I couldn’t stop smiling. My mum had made a beautiful dinner and I apologised for my behavior, though don’t get me wrong I was still pretty upset at them. After dinner we watched a movie as a family. I told them a lot about Erin and not so much on a particular blond haired boy I met on the beach. At around 9:30pm I packed my bag for school tomorrow and went straight to bed.
