"Fourteen y?" I guessed at the equation Mr Maklay had on the board and watched him shake his head.

"Fifteen y?" I guessed again a bit quieter than before. Wrong.

"Sixteen y?" Wrong. How I know you may ask? Well I watched Mr Maklay's face go from hopeful to just plain amused.

"Now your just guessing" Mr Maklay laughed.

"Yeah" I smiled sheepishly and turned a light shade of pink.

"There is no number in this equation's answer Kate, its just y"

"Oh . . ." I manage to choke out before the bell rang.

"Hey Kate" Cody yelled so I could hear him over everyone gossiping and leaving the classroom for lunch.

"Hey Cody" I smiled moving aside from the door so I could talk to him. "Whats up?" I could see Danielle from the corner of my eye and just brushed her off.

"I Just wanted to let you know that I won't make it to tutoring next Sunday"

"Oh thats ok, don't worry about it"

"But uhh . . . I was wondering if you doing anything on that weekend?"

"Yeah I think I'm free" I replied in shock that he asked me.

"Cool" he said as he wrote his number on my hand. "There is going to be a bonfire on the beach text me if your free"

"Sure"

I skip happily back to Danielle beaming brightly.

"Someone looks happy.

"Uh-hu" I reply.

"Pumped for the math test on Wednesday?"

"Uh no! Its 3 days away I'm screwed!"

"No your not you have me" Cody said slinging an arm around my shoulder startling me.

"Eaves dropping were we?"

"No it just so happened I was walking behind you and you were talking really, really loudly" He smirked.

I rolled my eyes and continued to walk. "So you coming over to mine this arvo?"

"Yeah if thats ok"

"Sure is oh but be warned my mum is going to be home"

I watch him laugh, "thats cool"

My mum and Cody haven't met yet seeing as last time he was over she was at the shops. Its been 2 weeks from today being at All saints and I don't want my mother in particular to screw anything up for me.

. . .

I look at Cody on the bus, he is so utterly perfect. Even though I just met him, I may have a little school girl crush on him "What?" He asks.

"Nothing" I reply looking away. I watch him eye me suspiciously out of the corner of my eye and look out the window. Smooth.

I hop off the bus chatting to Cody.

"Hello" I announce closing the door behind Cody.

"Hey Kitty I'm in the kitchen!"

I cringe at my nickname and look at Cody "Just don't ask" I laugh humorously heading towards the kitchen.

"Hey mum, this is Cody, Cody mum"

My mum rolls her eyes at my introduction.

"Fiona" She says extending her hand out for Cody to shake.

"Cody"

I pour two glasses of lemonade and hand one to Cody and grab a packet of chips and put them into a bowl.

"Mum Cody is going to help tutor me for the math test of wednesday"

"Good luck" She smirks.

"Nice to know you have faith in me" I tease.

Cody follows me knowingly to my bedroom and takes a seat on my bed. I close my bedroom door and smile.

"Kitty?" He chuckles.

"When I was little I couldn't pronounce Katie and Kitty was born"

"Its cute"

I smile and pour out my math stuff out from my bag. I sigh as Cody gets to work. Let an hour and a half of hell begin.

"I did it?" I ask dumfounded and Cody nods.

"YAY!" I sing "I could actually pass!"

"No you will"

"Yeah yeah confidence I got it but still, yay!" I say doing a little happy dance and Cody laughs. I sigh my brain aching. "Surf?" I offered.

"Sure!"

Once we finished getting ready I was just about to race Cody in the water when Taylah, Olivia and her little group walked passed us.

"Oh look Cody giving surfing lessons, cute" Olivia beamed.

"Uh actually its called chilling together" I correct her.

"Whatever, so Cody the girls and I are heading to get a coffee wanna come?"

"Umm no thanks, I just really feel like a surf today"

"Thats fine well I'll catch you later, Kate" Olivia states looking me up and down. I look at Taylah and shake my head and she looks at the ground. Why and how did she change so quickly.

"I'm just trying to get my friend back" She whispers reading my thoughts.

"Its ok" I said putting on a smile "I don't need an explanation"

She smiles and runs to catch up to Olivia.

I look at Cody and sigh "Shall we go?" He nods not one of us saying a word until I break the silence.

"Race ya" I smirk splashing into the water.
