Chapter 29

- - - - Taylah's P.O.V - - - - 

Coming home from my morning jog, I saw a letter sticking out of the mail box. I didn't have the key so I just took the letter and headed inside. I saw my mum standing in the kitchen. 

"Hey mum the mail's here" I said as I put the letter down on the table not looking at who it was addressed to.

"Ok I'll check it later" She replied.

I walked past the calendar and saw something red pass by in the corner of my eye. I walked back and saw my favourite red permanent texta circled around last weeks date. As I took a closer look I noticed it read Liam returns from camp!!!. Oh My Gosh! How could I forget!? I saw mum standing in the kitchen wiping over the bench with her yellow gloves on.

"Hey mum wasn't Liam meant to return home last week?" I asked her puzzlingly.

"Um...welll....uh-"

"Whats going on?" I asked suspiciously.

"Sit down Taylah, there's something that I need to tell you"

"Ok........." I said as I sat down on our lounge.

“Well you know that boy Cody that goes to your school"

"Yeah...." I replied not knowing if I wanted to know or not.

"Well he got bashed and ended up in hospital"

"Yeah i know....I'm not an idiot" I replied...I had no idea where she was going with this.

"Liam bashed him...."

"WHAT!?" I screamed as I stood up

"Taylah calm down"

"NO! NO! I WILL NOT CALM DOWN"

"We knew how close you guys were and we didn't want to you to get this upset"

"OF COURSE I AM GOING TO GET UPSET, HE'S MY BROTHER TO ME NOT A STEPBROTHER A REAL BROTHER, HE UNDERSTANDS ME...HE -."

"We know Taylah you don't have to yell at me" mum said as she cut me off

I let all the fury pass.

"What happened?" I asked softly, this was NOT something Liam would do.

"Alcohol..."

"What?"

"Your brother was very drunk...So was his friends, they just lashed out on him and left though Liam was going to ring and ambulance he didn't..."

"Why?"

"We don't know sweetie but you have to look at it from the family's point of view, Cody could have died if.....ahh whats her name.........ah Kate, if she didn't ring the ambulance and notify the police" She said holding my hand "he did the wrong thing Taylah and now he is paying the time"

I pulled my hand away, left the room and headed straight to my bedroom

KATE!? I THOUGHT TO MYSELF.....

I woke up to a boring overcast hailing Saturday morning for some reason the weather has been really weird after all it is supposed to be summer. I really didn't feel like waking up, it was so cold outside and my bed was so warm but once awake I can never seem to get back to sleep again. As I sluggishly walked down the stairs I noticed no one was up so I decided to make a hot chocolate. As I got the milk out of the fridge the calendar fell off. I put the milk on the bench and picked it up. I noticed today was the 10th of December. WOO HOO! Only 15 more days until Christmas and only 5 more days until school finished, then we were free from school, and Taylah.... It was just under 6 months since I had moved into our new house and I had already made a deadly enemy, I guess that happens though.
