I'll be here for you

Chapter 15

When I got to the table I saw a big bowl full of frangipanis and tea light candles all floating in water. The table was set up for two and was facing towards the sea with the beautiful dusk sky and the the stars lighting up the night.

"It's beautiful" I say as Cody tucks my chair in for me.

"Not as beautiful as you are tonight" He complements me sitting into his own chair. I saw him close his eyes as if he was mentally cursing himself. I giggled and blushed slightly as I changed the topic.

"So how did you manage to pull this off?"

"I have my ways" he said with a wink.

I slowly nodded at his mysteriousness "So what are we having?" I asked.

"Italian, is that ok?".

"Perfect" I said with a smile. After a short conversation with lots of laughs, a woman approached us with two plates in her hands and placed them in front of us.

"Can I get you any drinks with that?" she asked. She must have been from the restaurant behind us.

"Uh yes please I will have a Mountain Dew and..." he said looking at me.

"The same" I smiled back.

"Coming right up" she said and then left.

I stare at him for a moment.

"What?" He asks becoming so self concious.

"Nothing I just can't believe how much effort you put into this"

"Only the best"

The meal was fantastic! Cody had really outdone himself. After the dinner Cody took my hand, as we wandered down to the beach we sat down and look at the stars. I kept on asking myself, why would he want to go to this much effort for me? Once he sat down I sat down next to him and rested my head against his shoulder. Smoothly, he put his arm around me and we looked at the stars. Were we going to fast with this...I have never been in a relationship before...

"You know if I could I would name a star after you".

"Really?" I asked.

"Really really" he replied. I laughed as he looked into my eyes. He was really smart, he knew a lot about stars. We took turns in seeing what we could see in the stars.

"I see a saucepan" I said.

"And I see a scorpion".

We went on for about 15 minutes seeing what we could see in the stars when he sat up and said "You know I don't seem to have your number" he said

"Thats awkward" I replied "Seeing as how I have yours" I giggled.

"Yeah your number comes out funny in my phone"

"Oh ok" I said putting my number in his phone, he took a picture of me unexpectedly when I was looking at the water and used it for his contact picture. It actually was a pretty good photo of me but I got a photo out of him too for my contact pic, just to be even.

The night was going perfectly. He was a very funny and down to earth guy, then for once in the whole night we had ran out of things to say, I looked at him and smiled, he smiled back and he slowly lent in. Just as we were about to kiss he stopped me and said.

"There is something that I have to tell you".

"Anything" I said, thats when his phone buzzed, he took his phone out of his pocket, unlocked it and looked confused at it.

"Whats up?" I said and and looked over his shoulder to see what was wrong. It was a text message was from Taylah:

'Hey babe, I can't stop thinking about u and last nights kiss it has just made me realise how much u mean 2 me and what would happen if i lost u. Please call

Taylah xx'

I was stunned looking up at Cody extremely confused I waited for an explanation, but i disnt get one he looked just as shocked as i did. I stood up and started to leave. He grabbed my arm stopping me from leaving, he was very strong.

"Wait Kate, its not what you think I..." he said as I cut him off.

"So thats what you wanted to tell me? That we never have a chance"

"What? N-No" he said.

"Did you feel sorry for me? Is that what it was!"

"Kate no I wouldn't do that"

"You know what" I said shaking my head with tears trickling down my face. "I should have listened to Taylah this way none of us would have gotten hurt!"

"You think I am a player?!"

"Explain the text then!"

"I can't, I don't know what she is taking about!" He groaned in frustration.

"Whats there not to get you two kissed and she obviously has feelings for you now"

"I never kissed her I have no idea what she's on about, honest" he said. I paused and looked at his face it was a look of concern and he grabbed my hand and smiled.

"You think I would go to all this trouble for you if what Taylah says is true, which it isnt! Kate I -"

I pulled away and said softly "Dont" i said shaking my head. I look up behind Cody and snicker "Why don't you ask her" I said, looking at Taylah who was standing behind Cody at the top of the hill.

I now had tears running down my cheek. I walked off crying silently to myself trying to hold back the tears. I couldn't believe him! Though a part of me was asking if maybe he was telling the truth. I considered about turning around and giving him a second chance and maybe clarify things up, after all he made this beautiful dinner for me. I got to the top of the sand hill and turned around to go back to Cody but he was now kissing Taylah. At that moment fury took over my whole body, I took my heels off and ran the rest of the way home crying. I have never ran that fast in my life. I opened the front door and slammed it behind me.

"Kate, sweetie whats wrong?" my mum said. I didn't answer her and ran straight upstairs got into my PJ's and for once in my life all I wanted to do was stop thinking about Cody and what had happened that night. Finally at 10:14pm I eventually cried myself to sleep.
