"Let me in?" He asks letting his bottom lip pout.
I laugh and let him in.
"Someone's happier" He said sitting on the floor behind my piano.
"Yeah, I'm sorry I just needed a little break and -"
"Some music" He said holding up his guitar.
"Exactly" I giggled.
I look into his deep blue eyes, so lively and full of concern. "I just don't get it" I sighed.
"Get what?"
"What the fuss is all about being the new girl"
"There's a fuss?" He questions and I glare at him.
"You know what I mean" I said kicking his knee lightly.
"Do I?" He questions stroking his invisible beard.
I laugh at him, my heart quickening when I looked away and saw him looking at me in the corner of my eye.
"Wanna play something for me?" He asks.
"Only if you play with me"
"Fine" He rolls his eyes. "What can you play?"
I ponder for a second "I dunno what can you play?"
"I'm yours by Jason Mraz"
"Yay! I love that song!" I say clapping. "I'll count you in"
"1, 2, 3" I smile as my fingers flow from one key to the next for the intro "I'm not singing though" I giggled as the first verse was coming up.
"Didn't think so" He replied.
I rolled my eyes and fumbled with the keys for a moment cringing to myself as Cody sang. He can sing! His voice is amazing, it flows so well with the song, so relaxed and soothing. Ok focus Kate, focus!
I listened to the lyrics my body feeling numb, the outside world slowly starts to fade and it was just me and Cody.
After the outro, I look at Cody and smiled.
"Your a really good singer" I complimented him.
"Thanks, I think?" He laughs and I laugh with him, my smile slowly fading as I see Olivia playing the guitar outside. I look back at the piano, my fingers brushing the keys.
"Wanna talk about it?"
I shake my head "I'm fine, but thanks" I smile.
"Ok, well if you need anything I'm here"
"I'll keep that in mind"
"We still going surfing this arvo?"
"Sure are"
"Cool, I'm guessing your not really in the mood for tutoring?"
I just shook my head.
"How about we make tutoring 2 times a week, Wednesday and Fridays?"
"Sounds like a plan"

After school, I picked up a muesli bar and my surfing gear, munching on my bar as I sat on the beach waiting for Cody.
"Were do you think we should go?" Cody asks sitting next to me.
"Right" I say pointing into the distance.
"Cool" He smiles.
We get up and run into the water, it was quiet cool this afternoon so I brought my green and white wetsuit and was glad I did when my feet hit the water.
