Katelyn's POV

I walk around the bend, my hair wet with sweat.

I blast the song "All of Me" by John Legend. My tank top clings onto my body and my jogging shorts are anything but clean. I'm just glad that the sidewalk is empty and I cannot hear anything around me.

"Give your alllllll to me" I mumble under my breath, walking to the beat of the heartfelt song, my eyes shutting in the process as I am on a relatively straight path with no barriers. "I'll give my alllllll to you...."

I open my eyes a crack to see a figure slowly nearing. Oh. crap. no.

I turn down the volume until it is so faint, I only hear the instruments in the distance. I attempt to brush the few fly-aways in my hair back into position, but since it is drenched it just clumps even more.

I grunt slightly and brush off any dirt that has accumulated on my clothes. I continue to walk towards the figure, who I know well as my friend, Jeffory.

We become within feet of each other as I notice his exercise clothes- A also sweaty tank top, some shorts and some green and silver tennis shoes. Why is he even in the neighborhood... I think, letting my mind drift onto other subjects.

I pretend as if I do not see my former-boyfriend-yet-still-best-friend until we are within reaching distance of each other.

"H-Hey Katelyn!" Jeffory stutters, taking his eyes off of his phone. I look up with a smirk on my own face.

" 'Sup." I respond in a barely audible whisper. He smiles back at my grin and wipes the sweat from his forehead.

"Nothing much. Abby is at the babysitter's house and I got off work early, so I decided to take a trip to your neighborhood for a good a jog. As you know, my sidewalks are filled with people, bars and shops. Too noisy for my taste." he replies. I nod to indicate I heard until I feel like speaking.

"Aphmau and Kawaii~Chan are both working, Garroth is taking a nap, Laurance is mad that I pounded at their door, I don't really like Travis OR Dante for.... Reasons you know about." I rant. He listens contently to my talking, taking the earbuds out of his ears and adjusting his t-shirt. "So... I took it as 'me' time... to take a brisk walk."

"Ha!" Jeffory laughs, looking me up and down. "You got that sweaty just from 'walking'?" I grunt, my cheeks turning furiously red. I do not want to yell or cause a scene, especially with my "good friend".

"Is that a challenge?" I retort, giving him a competitive glare. He glares back at me as we look into each other's eyes. I could get lost in his emerald gemstones, but I resist, turning back to the real test.

"Is anything on the line here?" I ask, rolling my eyes as if I don't care.

"Hmm, well, whoever wins the race gets to tell the other person to do whatever they please for the rest of the day." He says, beaming with pride. I shrug, knowing that even if I loose, he won't make me do anything horribly bad. He has a golden heart ya' know.

"To Lucinda's house?" I question him, which is roughly two miles from where we are walking.

"The green one?" Jeffory asks as I tilt my head forward enough for him to notice.

"On three." I state, getting into position, adjusting my phone so it doesn't fly out and break while I sprint. He attempts to do the same but just lets it dive into his pocket.

"One." I start.

"Two..." He continues, ready to head off without me.

"THREE!" I yell as I thrust my feet forward, going at a steady yet fast pace. Jeffory does the same as we continue a speedy pace beside each other. If one moves before the other, the other person doesn't fall behind.
