"Gate 425 has been delayed for inclement weather. The next takeoff time is at 3:00 AM, boarding is from 2:30 to 2:45.... Gate 298 is..."

I slump into the uncomfortable chair, the silence enveloping around me. It makes me angry in a sort of way, not knowing what is happening all around me. But, I'll live. Even if I have to wait three more hours for my flight.
I crack my once closed eyes opened, peeking into the outside world we call an airport. A couple or people are scattered here and there, also waiting for the flight. I check my phone for any texts or signs of life, only to find the time, 11:55.
I sigh, turning on my usual Pink Floyd. My once silent world turns upside down, the music making me feel at ease once again. As I don't want to just sit around and risk falling asleep, I get up and begin my adventure to find the airport Starbucks. I wander the empty hall, my headphones turned on high enough to not even hear the loud speaker or rolling of suitcases.
I spot the green sign from a distance, running toward the small coffee shop. It says it closes at three, giving me more than enough time to order and drink it. I notice one other person in the shop, but ignore it while I order my simple Americano brew, it coming out instantly.
I sit down at a table for two, placing my briefcase on top of the seat across from me. I sip the hot coffee, my eyes averting toward the younger woman sitting two tables over. Her orange hair shifts while she drinks a macchiato, her pupils scanning her phone screen.
And all I can think of is how beautiful she looks. Though her red eyes should be a giveaway to back off, I approach her with caution, sitting in the chair across from her.
She looks up with a confused expression plastered across her face. I stare her straight in the eyes and say, "Hello, M'lady."
She smiles subtly, her cheeks reddening, "Hi... Who might you be, exactly?"
She gives me mixed signs of being either very seductive or very pissed. I can't comprehend how to respond as I stutter over my words, her laugh becoming prominent, "Now, don't begin stuttering on me!" I chuckle slightly as I sip my drink for comfort, her voice filling my ears with wonderful sounds.
"S-Sorry," I mumble, attempting to return to my flirtatious self, "Well I'm Laurance Zvahl, CEO of Meteli Marketplace, and who might you be?"
"Is that so?" She questions, biting her luscious lips, "There's a slight predicament there... See, my father is actually the founder of Pikoro, like the grocery store around the east coast of Ru'an. Luckily, I don't work there, or else I'd be in major trouble. I'm Lucinda, but you can call me Lou."
"Whatcha got there?" I ask.
"What?"
"Those notebooks. I notice you don't have any suitcases, and all I seem to see is your laptop, phone, and those spiral pads of paper."
"Oh, these?" She says with a smile, "It's just an off work hobby. I come here in between my flights to scribble and draw. I'm a flight attendant by the way, and my shift actually starts within the next hour... My flight was delayed so I got some downtime. I know the worker, Hailey, so she lets me stay past closing whenever I feel like it."
She turns the notepad towards me and motions for me to flip through it. I skim the pages of elaborate artworks, filled with colors and pencil lines galore. She has three that I've noticed, meaning the other two may be filled to the brim. My eyes widen in awe, her blush returning.
"Wow, Lou. These are...," I mutter, unable to continue speaking, "...Fantastic."
"Thank you," She responds, taking back the pad of paper. Before I know it we are taking for what seems like a second, each of us explaining snippets about our lives. I check the time to find it exactly two, my time to leave in half an hour.
"Lou, I'd love to continue talking, you are so interesting, beautiful, and true," I speak, before she cuts me off by placing a finger on my lips.
"Now, don't be a little Casanova, Mr.CEO-of-a-huge-company," She smirks, her eyes staring into my own. We stare, my smile increasing as I watch the swirl of crimsons and oranges collide together in her eyes.
I inch closer as she does the same, our lips colliding in harmony. I cradle her delicate face as she wraps her arms around my neck, not wanting this moment to end. We break apart at the same time, our eyes not looking away from the others.
"Oh my Irene... I have to be helping in five minutes for this flight I'm helping on!! It's to California and-"
"Wait," I say, looking at her with a smile plastered across my face, "Does it begin boarding at 2:30?"
"I-It should, why?"
"I have the same flight back h..."
The loudspeaker echos through the hall, depicting a message and interrupting me all at once.
"Gate 425 has been delayed again for inclement weather. The next takeoff time is at 5:00 AM, boarding is from 4:30 to 4:45.... Gate 166 has b..."
We look back at each other after listening, smiling from ear to ear, our lips finding one another once again.

"At that is how I met your mother, Landon." I smile, rubbing the back of our son's back.
"Eww!!! Mommy must've had mega cooties!!" He beams as I tickle his stomach, his laughter brightening the room.
"Stop telling him that everyday, Laur!" Lucinda groaned, meeting us on the couch, her same tangerine hair and simple fiery eyes greeting us. She rubs Landon's ginger locks while he covers his emerald eyes, giggling along.
We hug him together between us, Lou's stomach bouncing around with the lively little girl inside.
To think my perfect family started at an airport Starbucks in the middle of the night.
But then again, I wouldn't have wanted to meet the love of my life any other way.
