Chapter 28

Avery's POV

"Are you ever going to answer your phone?" Evan asks when we hear my phone go off for the millionth time in the last three days.

"Nope!" I answer him as I ignore the call again.

"Then why don't you just turn your phone off so we don't have to hear it?"

"Well if I did that then I wouldn't get the pleasure of ignoring his calls, now would I?" I ask while pouring myself some more coffee, and he just sighs.

"You're going to have to answer your phone eventually."

"Naw! I think I can hold out longer than he can."

"He's started to call me because you've been ignoring him. He's furious, all he did was yell and curse you out. So please I beg you just answer your phone!"

"I'm sorry okay, but you should have known better than to answer. You should've just ignored him like I am," I tell him before taking a sip of my coffee and then placing it on the counter so I can bend down to help Liam tie his shoes.

"Avery, please just see what he wants," he begs again.

I let out a groan as I stand up and turn towards the kitchen counter to face him. "Look, I still haven't fully recovered after Friday, so the absolute last thing I want to do right now is talk to him. Alright?"

"Fine! You can do whatever you want, but the longer you hold out the angrier he's going to get," he warns.

"What else is new? He's always angry. Especially at me," I say while picking up my bag from the floor next to the door. "So are you done lecturing me now? I don't want us to be late."

"It wasn't so much of a lecture as a warning!"

I shrug my shoulders. "I'm unconcerned, I'm sure he'll give up soon and just tell you whatever it is."

"Oh gee! How kind of you."

I roll my eyes before turning to Liam. "Honey, go get your bag out of your room."

Once I know Liam's out of the room I turn back to Evan. "I know it's awful for me to do this to you. And I'm sorry about it, but we both know that its better you talk to the bastard. I don't want to fight with him and if I talk to him that's what will end up happening," I say looking at him pleadingly.

"Okay fine! But you owe me!" he huffs.

"I know! I owe for a lot more than this. And I know I'll never be able to repay you, but I honestly do appreciate it. You really are the best brother ever."

"Oh god! There's no need to get so damn sappy!" he says as he grabs me and hugs me tightly, taking me completely by surprise. I know Evan loves me a lot, but he doesn't usually so openly show affection.

"I really love you Evan." I say into his shoulder while he suffocates me.

"I know. I love you too Avery," he says with a kiss to my forehead before releasing me. "Now go! I think you said something earlier about not wanting to be late."

"Oh crap!" I glance at the time and it's almost eight. Just Great! "Come on Liam! We're late," I yell down the hallway

When Liam comes bounding down the hall, I grab my keys off the counter and press ignore on my phone when it rings once again.

"Have a good day!" Evan says

"Thanks!" I say looking at him while opening the door for Liam. "I love you!" I say one last time.
