Chapter 44

Avery's POV

I'm awoken in the middle of the night by the growling of my stomach and I open my eyes to see Mia sleeping soundly in my arms. Her head's resting on my chest, arm wrapped around me, legs tangled in mine, and I really couldn't be more comfortable. I love the feeling of holding her in my arms, and I seem to sleep better when I do.

She honestly could not be any more beautiful, I could literally stare at her all night. However, right now I feel like if I don't get something to eat I may die. I glance at the clock and see that it's three in the morning, which means the last time I ate was yesterday afternoon. It's no wonder I'm so hungry.

I look down at Mia and realize there's no way I can get out from under her without waking her. And honestly I'm so comfortable I kind of don't want to move. I'm debating just staying and trying to go back to sleep when my stomach growls again, and I realize that there is no way I can sleep when I'm this hungry.

I start to slowly move out from under Mia, and she just grabs me tighter, causing me to release a sigh.

"Don't go," she mumbles as she curls herself into me further.

"I'm not sneaking out I promise, we're in my apartment, remember?"

"I know that. Don't be a smartass, Avery!" she mumbles into my chest and I roll my eyes. "I'm just incredibly comfortable right now."

"I am too, but I'm also incredibly hungry. We kind of missed dinner, remember?" I say and I feel her lift her head off my chest.

She opens her eyes, looks up at me and gives me a lazy smirk. "Was I not enough to satisfy your hunger, Avery?"

I groan as I roll my eyes and I hear her let out a small laugh before yawning. "Shut up, Mia! And let go of me, I'm seriously hungry. How are you not?"

"I am!" she says and puts her head back on my chest.

"Then let go of me and come with."

"I'm also tired," she says, finishing with a yawn.

"Yeah, well, if I don't get something to eat soon I'm going to die. Do you want me to die, Mia?" I ask and she groans.

"Fucking fine," she mumbles into my chest before she releases me. "No need to be so damn dramatic, Avery!"

I just roll my eyes as I climb out of the bed and stretch. "You coming?" I ask as I turn around to look at her. A big smile instantly forms on my face when I see her naked body hugging my pillow.

"Yeah..." she mumbles into the pillow, but makes no effort to move. And my smile just continues to grow. How can a woman be so sexy and be equally as cute?! It honestly doesn't seem possible, and yet there she is lying in my bed.

"If you're going to come that would require having to move," I say and she groans again.

I shake my head and roll my eyes as I head to the closet to get dressed and grab some clothes for Mia. When I leave the closet, I see her sitting up in my bed without a single thing covering her, and I seriously consider just getting back into bed.

"Make up your mind, Avery! Are you going to just continue starting at me or are we going to go get something to eat?" she asks while stretching. I involuntarily let out a moan as I watch her and she smirks at me.

"So, should I assume that's your way of saying you're going to get back into bed with me?" she asks as my stomach growls again. God she's making this hard on me. "Avery, just hand me a shirt," she says with a laugh.
