Chapter 50
Avery's POV
With a seemingly never ending smile on my face, I watch as Mia walks to the elevator. When the doors close and I can no longer see her I finally re-enter the apartment.
"We're talking, now!" Shannon practically yells before I even take one step into the room.
I groan as I walk fully into the apartment and close the door behind me. As I should have expected the second Mia had left the room to go change, Shannon was on me in an instant. She practically jumped in my lap and started grilling me with questions. Thankfully I was able to hold her off some.
"Can't I have at least a minute before you start interrogating me?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"Not a chance!"
"Fine!" I sigh and then turn to Liam. "Honey, I'm going to talk to Aunt Shannon in my room, okay? Uncle Evan should be home soon, but come get me if you need anything," I say and he nods. I smile at him before heading to my room with Shannon following insanely close behind. I walk into my room and collapse on the bed face first into the pillows.
"My god, it seriously smells like sex in here," I hear Shannon complain and I groan slightly before turning to look at her.
"Shut up," I say and she rolls her eyes.
"Are you going to sit down so we can talk or not?""Yeah, but just not on the bed," she says and I roll my eyes as she sits on the ground with her back pressed against my nightstand. "Why are your curtains open, by the way? I don't think I've ever seen them open. I thought you really hated all the extra light," she says and I shrug my shoulders as I flip around to the foot of the bed so I can look at her.
"Mia opened them," I say and she just silently looks at me for a few seconds.
"I really have absolutely no clue what to say right now, Avery. I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine hearing what you said, did I?"
"No, you didn't," I say simply and she just stares at me eyes wide.
"I'm so fucking confused right now," she says and I silently laugh. She isn't the only one. "When I saw you this morning, even though you were trying to act like you weren't, I know you were freaking the fuck out because you heard her say that she loves. I seriously thought you were going to end up calling it quits with her, but then I come back to see that not only was she still here, you had also told her that you love her as well. What the actual fuck, Avery?" she asks in disbelief and I shrug.
"I don't exactly know what to tell you," I say and she scoffs.
"Well you have to at least fucking try!" she says and I roll my eyes.
"This is one of the reasons why I told you that I didn't want to do this in the same room as Liam. You swear even more than I do, and that's really saying something."
"Stop avoiding the subject, Avery!"
"I'm not avoiding it. I just have no fucking idea what to say," I sigh.
"Start from the beginning then," she says and I just look at her for a few seconds before sighing again.
"You're right. I was freaking out, big time! I seriously did try to end it with her, but she wouldn't let me."
"She wouldn't let you?" she asks in confusion. "Since when do you let people stop you from doing what you want to do?"
"That's the thing, I didn't really want to end it. I was mostly doing it for her sake. I was always more okay with my being hurt than I was with her. She figured out what I was doing and why I was doing it, she told me to forget all about her and what she feels, and just tell her what I want and feel. What I want is her. It's as simple as that."
