Everybody Wants Lucy {Ch.3}

Lucy's POV

I slid behind the wheel as my dad got into the passenger seat. I couldn't believe it I am sitting in my dream car with my dad. I didn't know which was more wonderful the car or being with my dad. Its defiantly being with my dad, like a real father and daughter.

"Where to dad" I asked?

"Go to the wooded springs exit and I'll tell you where to go from there" he said. I raised my eyebrows at him.

"What! It's a surprise" he said and he laughed. I haven't herd him laugh in so long. I hadn't realized how much I missed it until now. He directed me away from the highway on to a dead end road. He told me stories about him and mom that I had never heard before. He hadn't talked as much about her my whole life as he had on this trip. There was a light in his eyes as he remembered her. I loved seeing her thru his eyes, she was so beautiful. I hope somebody loves me that much someday. When we got to the end of the road I stopped the car and looked at him.

"Ok we have to go the rest of way on foot" dad said.

"What where are we going" I said.

"You will see" dad chuckled.

We followed a dirt path into the woods. I huddled real close the woods made me nervous. He put his arm around my shoulder and said "don't worry mountain flower I'll protect you from now on I swear".

He hadn't called me that since I was six. I don't know what happened but it felt like I had my daddy back for the first time in about ten years. We came out of the woods into a clearing and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a carnival. Just like the one uncle Benny and daddy used to take me to every summer when I was little. How is it here in this huge field surround by woods. Then I saw him with his favorite baseball cap on backwards. I started running towards him and he scooped me up in a bear hug.

"Uncle Benny you're here" I said.

"Happy birthday doodle bug. Or are you to grown up for nick names" he said.

"Never" I said and giggled.

We rode every ride and laughed and ate. I hadn't had this much fun in years. Then dad said it was time to go.

"Awe dad couldn't we stay longer" I begged.

"Yes daddy please" uncle Benny said mocking me.

"You have school and your uncle and I have work to do" he said.

"Ok daddy" I said and kissed them both.

"Don't go back to the house you and I are going to stay with uncle Benny for a while" dad said. I was confused but said ok and started to leave them. Dad was catching a ride with uncle Benny and I wanted to stop buy the beach before school. I started on the path and got this strange feeling someone was watching me. Then as low as the lowest whisper I heard someone say my name. I felt a hand on my shoulder but when I turned around no one was there. Then the voice said "I will have you soon Lucy". I ran as fast as I could. And didn't stop until I was in my new car with the door locked. I was almost to the beach when the ring the mermaids gave me started to glow.

I jumped out of the car and started calling Arena and Brady. By the time I got to the water they were already there.

"Happy Birthday" they said at the same time.

"Thank you" I said. I told them all about dad and uncle Benny and the car.

"Did you get our message" Arena asked?

Then it hit me the ring and how it glowed.

"That was you" I asked as I stared at the ring. They shook their heads yes.
