Everybody Wants Lucy {Ch. 24}

Lucy's POV

We had started up a path. Tanja bouncing up a head. Dietrich and Rebeca holding hands walking in front of me. Ryan was walking next to me. So close in fact I could feel the heat from his body. Talk about pressure, I had to put a little space between us. Before I wouldn't be able to control my body and its reaction to him.

"Tanja" I called and she bounced back towards us.

"What's up Lucy" she asked?

"Could you try to read my mind" I asked?

"I can't anymore, I tried already" she said.

"But why you could in the beginning" I said.

"I don't know. All I know is I can't anymore" she shrugged and skipped up ahead again.

"Hmm I wonder" I said out loud but mostly to myself.

"What do you wonder" Rebeca asked?

"Why Tanja can't read my thoughts now but she could at first" I said.

"I think I know" Dietrich said.

"You do" Rebeca and I said at the same time.

"Don't look so shocked I have ideas too" Dietrich said. He looked a little hurt by our reaction. I hated upsetting him.

"Of course you do. You're a dragon and dragons are some of the smartest creatures on the planet. Now what was your idea" I said.

"Thank you miss Lucy. I think its that defense thing of yours. Somebody can use a power on you once but that's it" he said with pride.

"See good looking and smart" Rebeca beamed at Dietrich. Then he actually blushed I had never seen him blush.

"Oh get a room" Ryan said Rebeca shot him a dirty look. I decided to change the subject.

"Do you think there is away to control it Dietrich, this defense thing" I asked?

"Most likely its like all your powers. You can control it with a little practice. I have learned you can do just about anything miss Lucy" Dietrich said.

"Water break" Ryan called. We all sat down and took our waters out. Tanja sat next to me.

"Tanja try again" I said. Then I closed my eyes and concentrated on letting her in.

"Nothing" she said.

"Dam" I muttered.

"Lucy since when do you curse" Rebeca asked in shock?

"I don't I'm just frustrated, I'm sorry" I said.

"Don't be sorry I'm just surprised" Rebeca said.

"You curse up a storm when you get mad. And your going to hassle her about dam. Which isn't really a curse anyway" Ryan said.

"Chill out big brother I'm not hassling her. I was just surprised that's all" Rebeca said.

"Can you two find something else to argue about" I asked? Then I stood and walked a little away from them. I could hear these sweet giggles and followed the sound. It was coming from the other side of this huge bush. I cleared a little bit of the bush with my hands. So I could peek thru, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Bear cubs, but they weren't any normal cubs. Their little faces looked like human kids with different color fuzz on them. Their fury bodies matched the color of fuzz on their face. Also they weren't average bear colors. They were bright blues, oranges, purples, yellows and greens.
