Sometimes, we just have to let go of someone who matters to us not because we have to, but because it is the right thing to do. We can’t force anyone to love us. We can’t beg someone to stay when he wants to leave and be with someone else. This is what love is all about. However, the end of love is the beginning of understanding that love leaves for a reason and leaves with a lesson.

[Bea’s POV]

How I missed this house. This is the house where all of my happiest memories with him happened. Naisip ko na naman tuloy siya. At bago pa man ako tuluyang umiyak, biglang lumapit sa’kin si manang.

“Ma’am, telepono po, mommy niyo daw po.”

I walked towards the telephone and before I picked up, I sighed. I’m going to be scolded real well.

“Hello mom”

(Why are you there? Aren’t you supposed to be in Los Angeles studying? You didn’t even call. I was dead worried here. We can’t reach your number. We were wondering where you were.)

“Mom, breathe. I’m fine. I’ve made up my decision to study here.”

(I thought you want to stay in Los Angeles for good? Is it about--)

Before she could finish her sentence, I cut her off. “If I say yes, will you stop the questions?”

(Oh princess) Her tone now mommy-ish. Alam niya kasi yung nararamdaman ko para kay Alden.

“Mom, I don’t want to talk about it right now. I just got home from talking to him so my emotions are still not in order. I’ll call you tomorrow.”

(Okay. Just take care of yourself. Call manang. I’ll talk to her.)

Pumunta na ko dun sa kitchen.

“Manang, kakausapin daw po kayo. Panhik na po ako sa kwarto ah.”

“Sige. Gusto mo ba ng gatas?”

“Wag na po. Matutulog na rin po ako e. Thank you manang.”

Nasa dulo na ko ng hagdanan ng marinig kong nag-ring na naman yung telepono. I think it’s my mother again. She will keep on pestering manang for information about me until she’s satisfied. Oh well, at least it’s not me.

“Ma’am, telepono po ulit.”

Kinaway-kaway ko yung kamay ko para maipaalam kay manang na ayoko na makipag-usap. Tinakpan niya yung mouthpiece.

“Si Mr. Tolosa daw po.”

Bakit tumawag bigla si Alden? Ohmy! Baka may nangyari sa kanya! Sabi ko kasi isama ako e. Tumakbo ako pababa ng hagdanan na halos magkandahulog-hulog na ko.

“Hello Alden?”
