I was lying on the couch after having a debate with my Uncle and Aunt about going out, finally they left to go to Baskerville for the night. I flicked the ten o’clock news on out of boredom.

“An animal attacked killed a man, he is unidentified at the moment. He has two bite marks which could indicate a poisonous snake bite. This is Sally from Channel Six-Three-Zero, reporting live from Noosedale.”

Probably a vampire, wait did she say Noosedale? Lucas. I grabbed my trainers pulling them on and ran up to Lucas’s house. I walked into his house, this was becoming a habit..

“Lucas Birch!” I stormed into his room kicking the door open. “How could you kill a man?”

“What?!?” He shouted.

“It’s all over the fucking news, there saying he was bit by a snake.. Yeah right, why did you kill him?” I asked him.

“I didn’t!” He said.

“You did, I know it. Just tell me why?” I sighed and kept my distance from him.

“Look, why would I? I live off little cups of blood, there is no need to suck a whole human dry!” He yelled.

I burst out laughing, holding my ribs. “Oh, I can imagine vampires drinking out of sippy cups. But anyone can lose control or get sick of something and change. I did before I moved here.”

“Look, Cassandra. I didn’t kill that guy.” His face was so serious. I bit my lip.

“Lucas, I can’t take any more lies. Promise me, you never killed him. Swear on my life.” I whispered.

“I…I swear.” He said and I smiled at him.

“Well I suppose, I should go. Sorry for blaming you.” I told him. “Bye.”

“Bye!” He shouted after me.

As I was walking home, if Lucas didn’t kill that man, that means there’s another vampire around. I gulped and ran all the way home. I sat on my window seat when I got in, looking up at Lucas’s house.
