"What!?" I gasped.
"I...I didn't kill them on purpose, it was an accident." She stammered, tears still streaming down her face.
"Was it... a car crash?" I was whispering now.
"Yes." She breathed.
"Oh God."
"And the worst bit is... I can't remember. I can't remember what idiot slammed into my car. I can't remember my friends, my school, I can hardly remember myself!" Sobs shook her body, all anger forgotten.
I shooed Barty out and slammed the door, sitting her on the sofa.
"Shh! It's okay! Don't cry!"
"I'm sorry. If Vikum and Janesse knew I was here they'd go nuts... I'll go." She sniffed.
"They went to some convention, they won't be back for a while. Just try to calm down."
"Ok. Oh!" She looked all scared for a moment.
"What!?"
"You... You're a vampire! I should be freaking out right now!" She laughed shakily.
"Are you?"
"No."
Her answer was so simple, so sweet, that I couldn't help it. I kissed her again- but different this time.
This time I meant it.
