Cassandra wasn't at school on Monday. Her little brunette friend hovered around me all day, asking where she was. I shook her off at hometime, running home in a state of shock.
She wasn't there on Tuesday either. Gerald stayed clear of me, he and his posse moving to a new tabke in the canteen.
Wednesday passed, and then Thursday. Berfore I knew it, it was Friday again.
I noticed the room going silent as I walked into regestration.
Cassandra was sat in her desk behind me, not catching my eye. She looked pale and sick, her hair tied up, and her face free of make up.
It took me a few minutes to realise everybody but her was staring at me. No wonder, I must have looked pretty creepy, just standing there, looing at her.
"Hey, Lucas, over here!" It was Cassandra's little brunette friend. Savvanah.
I rushed over to the seat next to her and sat down, "Thanks." I felt sorry for being mean to her for the past few days.
"No problem. She's not talking to me either." She whispered, doodling on a scrap of paper.
"Oh. Do you know what's wrong?"
"Rumour is, she tried to kill herself." She was still whispering, but she pressed her pencil harder into the paper.
"What? Why?"
"Nobody knows. I tried to ask bu--" Her pencil had snapped.
The bell went.
