I sat there peacefully watching the sun set, I heard a noise  I stood up and screamed until I saw Blacky, I sighed in relief as I sat down, Blacky looked like he was mocking me. He sat on lap, I ran my hands through his fur as he purred. A few tears fell onto his fur and he looked up at me.

“I’m sorry Blacky,” I said and wiped the tears off my face. I stood up and held him close to me again. “Let’s get you home again.” I whispered and walked back to Lucas’s house. I was about to knock on the door when it opened.

“Cassie, your uncle is going crazy looking for you.” This man told me. “I’m Vikrum, I have to apologize for my brother’s behaviour.” He said and I handed him Blacky.

“I’ll just go home now.” I told him.

“Wait, let me at least give you lift, I mean you never know what’s out at night time.” He said and I nodded. We walked to his jeep and I sat quietly while we drove the fifteen minute drive back to mine. “Lucas is… it’s complicated. I’m sure he’s sorry for upsetting you.”

“Yeah right, we hate each other. Did he tell you that he flung a lamp at me?” I asked.

“Yeah, he got hell from Janesse and me.” He stopped the car. “Don’t be stranger Cassie, come visit Barty any time.” He smiled at me and I noticed it was exactly like Lucas’s.

“Well, I am sure Blacky will find me. I named him Blacky earlier and we both like it.” I told him. “Thanks again Vikrum.” I slipped out of the car and ran up to my house.

“Oh there she is.” Uncle John sighed as I walked past them up to my bedroom.

I woke up the next morning, I pulled my shorts on, a  black vest top and the school’s navy blue Noosedale High blazer. I shoved my feet into my cowboy boots. I let my hair stay in natural curls, I applied my make-up quickly, a little bit of blusher eyeliner and pink lips. I got a lift to school from Aunt Fiona who was going to her friend’s house. I walked into registration and saw Lucas, I walked right past him  and sat next Gerald, I smiled at him.
