Elena Gilbert, Bonnie and Meredith Sulez pulled up to the local University of Mystic Falls. They wanted to be close to the boarding house (Stefan and Matt and Mrs. Flowers). Alaric was finally back at Mystic Falls, just as Meredith had to leave.
They grabbed most of their boxes and made their way to their dorm. There was three beds, a kitchen, one bathroom and a TV in the 'bedroom'. Elena flopped on her bed, which was as thin as a piece of paper.
"I'm going out." Meredith announced, pulling Bonnie with her. Bonnie was as miserable as her, but Elena preferred to spend a little alone time. She was sure that Bonnie did too, but Meredith forced Bonnie and not her. She took a cold shower, then laid on her bed again, only covered by a towel.
After a few minutes, there was a knock at the door.
"You have a key, Meredith." She moaned. The person knocked harder. Elena got off the bed and opened the door slightly. A handsome man with all black clothes stood in front of her. He looked exactly like... like... Stefan.
"DAMON?" Elena threw her arms around him, tears spilling down her face.
"The one and only." His grin was devilish. She looked up at him, hysterical.
"But you were- oh you were- Bonnie- oh Damon-" A fresh batch of tears rolled down her face. Then the sun bled through the window and landed on him. He started burning. His expression turned scared.
"DAMON?" Elena tried to block the sun with her body, but it went... right through her.
"DAMONNNN!" Damon disappeared and all that was left of him was a pile of black ashes in the doorway.
Elena woke up with a sticky face -probably from her tears- and red eyes -definitely from her tears- with dark circles under her eyes. After Damon's death, she couldn't sleep the first month, but then when she did fall asleep from pure exhaustion, she had nightmares and woke up crying.
"Elena?" She was staring up at big brown eyes and a small, delicate face.
"Bonnie?" She fell on her.
"Oh Elena..." and she started crying, they started crying. Meredith stood awkwardly away, then came over and hugged them both.
"It'll be okay." She cooed.
"Don't lie to me, Meredith." Bonnie said surprisingly. It was quiet for a moment, then Meredith said,
"Let's bring Elena to the fair." Elena sighed, then gently pushed Bonnie off of her and stood up, holding her towel.
"Fine, just let me get dressed." Elena grabbed some clothes from her bag and walked off to the washroom to change.
