At around three am, Katherine appeared behind Damon, who was seated facing Mrs. Flowers' well-kept garden. He smirked, throwing his head back, chugging down the purple liquid.
"How nice of you to join me." He said, as he wiped his mouth, with the back of his hand.
Katherine grimaced, rolling her eyes, and taking a few steps to stand beside his chair.
"What brings you here, little kitten?" He chuckled and her hand darted out to his cup. He pulled away, expecting her to knock it out of his hand, which would really piss him off, but instead she sighed, her hand open, still lingering in front of his face.
"Relax, panther, I just want a drink." She still held her hand out, until he finally handed her it.
"Hey-hey! Not all of it!" Damon stood up, knocking his chair over, while trying to grab his glass.
She leaned away, laughing and gulping down the black magic wine, giving it to him, after she finished it.
He scowled, tossing the cup into the flowers, causing it to shatter.
"Mrs. Daisies is going to kill you." She giggled and Damon half-smiled.
"Not if I kill her first."
"Kill 'Matty', instead, please." She begged and they both laughed, their voices echoing into the night sky.
It got quiet and they both stared up at the stars, for once, the silence was peaceful.
"What a beautiful sight." Katherine remarked and Damon glanced at her, confused, then back at the night sky above them.
"What? The sky?" He asked. "We see it every single night."
"Not the sky." Katherine dismissed Damon, shaking her head and nodding her head at the broken glass and flowers, marked with the few drops left of what looked like grape juice, but was really wine.
Damon recalled the memories of Elena drinking it, becoming drunk and light off of it, but only in his head.
"The flowers." Damon was still confused and furrowed his eyebrows at the garden. It was too late to be trying to figure out an illusion.
But, then again, what else was there to do, when you don't sleep?
Well, you don't have to.
"It's like me." She pointed to herself, her voice soft and her eyes distant, like she was in a different dimension. "Beautiful, but broken."
Flattering yourself, I see?
Damon raised an eyebrow at her, but she just shook her head.
"I thought you would be banging my brother by now." Damon quickly changed the subject, knowing that she was strong, from years of running, but he wasn't sure if she still cried, or not.
"Sure." She smiled and blushed, looking away. He laughed, not used to seeing her so vulnerable, these days.
"He's wary because he knows I'm not Elena. But, he's only wary because he doesn't know who I am." She slowly turned her head, meeting black eyes.
"But that's it. If he knew who I was, he would try and kill me, at the very least." Her voice broke at the end and Damon shook his head, feeling a type of sorrow that he didn't think he could feel.
Especially, for Katherine.
"No, he wouldn't, why do you think I call him Saint Stefan?" She giggled and Damon smirked, watching her in a way he didn't think he could.
He watched her because he wanted to and because he was curious. She truly was broken, her life ruined, but replenished by the bite she got, when she was only nineteen.
"But seriously, I could be a guy, or something, for all he knows." She grinned and Damon laughed, really laughed.
That would be uncomfortable, in the end, if you really were a guy.
Damon sent her and she nodded, looking back up at the sky, her pupils dilating, under the quick adjustment.
"So tell me about her." She bumped Damon with her hip and raised her eyebrows, when he stiffened.
This was obviously a sensitive subject.
Who?
He didn't trust his voice enough to speak, and he wanted to stretch this on, as long as possible.
"Come on, don't be a pussy, Damon, tell me about her." She persuaded him and he rolled his eyes, running a hand through his hair.
"She's everything to me." He started, losing himself in the sky and her. The memory of her. Because the person who took over her place, was the one he was telling all of this to.
But no one could really replace her.
"At first, I just went after her because Stefan had her, she looked like you." He pointed to her and she nodded. She was the one who lead them there, to be reminded of her.
But her plan failed, all it did was make history, repeat itself.
"And she smelled ever so sweet." He licked his growing canines, ignoring them easily. "But she pulled me in, by her pinky finger and I never showed it, but I quickly wanted her."
"Not for blood, or revenge against Stefan. I can't-" He stuttered. "I had never felt anything like it, as a vampire."
"I can't explain it. I wanted to kiss her, and that frightened me, because I didn't want her blood, anymore." He chuckled, his voice full of pain and loss. "What vampire longs to kiss someone?"
No vampire, except Stefan, who pretended to be human, for as long as he could. Lately, his anger side was showing, though.
"Anyways, tell me why you want Stefan." He demanded, wanting to take the attention off of himself, for as long as possible.
He couldn't believe he just said that, out loud, to Katherine, of all people. It looked like his chains and walls, were really broken down.
"Gladly." She smiled, and he began to feel guarded again, because it wasn't a kind smile. "Just take a seat, this will be long." She looked back up to the sky, her mouth closed, proving she wouldn't talk until he sat down.
Something was definitely wrong...
But Damon was going to take a seat anyways, the want to hear Katherine vulnerable, again, overpowering his vampire senses, telling him not to trust her, for even a second.
He turned around and bent over, reaching for the chair. Suddenly, his sight got covered by a hand, turning everything black, and he was forcefully pulled backwards.
*AUTHOR'S NOTE*
Hope the heart to heart was good, between them! Did you really think Katherine was going soft, though? 😉
This might have been short, but I wrote this last night, at 9:40, and I didn't really have anything else planned for this chapter. This is where things will start to pick up... I think.
I have everything planned, so... I already know the big ending! I'm so excited to finish, but I'm going to miss writing about Damon, Katherine, Stefan and Elena for a while (not hinting at future possibilities of Katherine staying, or a sequel, btw) 🙈😂
See you Thursday or Friday or whenever, definitely this week! I will try to finish before school ends! If I do my normal schedule, I'll finish on the last week! Eek!
😍😘😭✌️
