When Elena had recovered from her previous state, Damon took her around campus, searching the area for victims.

"Just let me have my meal..." He sighed. "And we'll go to the forest for yours." He soundness slightly annoyed.

Elena stopped him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I want to taste human blood, too." She whispered and Damon was shocked.

Since when?

But then her eyes flashed black and he pushed her off.

"Sorry, Elena, but you're going to regret this later." Damon slung an arm over her shoulder and scavenged the area.

"No!" She pushed him off and darted away.

"Elena!" Damon's voice rose, and soon enough, he found her.

Blonde locks hung over her head... and someone else's.

Was she kissing someone else?

Damon began to get angry, but he soon saw the other person's lips were not occupied by Elena's. Their face was white and their mouth made a little 'o' shape. Blood trickled down the guy's shirt and Damon sighed.

Elena looked up at him, eyes dark blue, something Damon had never seen before. Yet they were not fully black, which was a good sign.

"Elena." Damon shook his head.

What was this darkness doing to her... and where had it come from?

"Elena, Elena, Elena." He stepped closer and Elena's eyes turned the lightest blue imaginable.

She smiled then looked down in horror at what she had done. She wiped her mouth after she dropped the now-dead university student. She looked at Damon, who was stepping towards her.

"No." She took a step back. "Get away from me!" She spat and turned around, about to run, when Damon grabbed her arm.

"Elena, you did this yourself." Damon whispered and she shrugged him off not-so-nicely.

"You could have stopped me!" She said, then broke down into tears, letting Damon hold her.

"I just killed someone." She mumbled, pushing him off once again. "Damon." She got his attention by raising her voice.

"I JUST KILLED SOMEONE." And with that, she was gone.

Damon raced after her and caught up to her pretty quickly, since he was way more powerful. She stopped and ran to the right, catching Damon off guard. He cursed in another language and stopped on his heel, spinning to the right.

"Damon! I'm a monster get away from me!" She yelled as she ran away from him.

"So am I, Elena." He stopped, tired of always chasing her. "So am I."

"Ya." She turned and nodded, her eyes dark blue again. "You are."

Damon looked up at her.

"I kn-" Damon started, but Elena cut him off. Damon looked at the ground.

"And you will not stop me if I am a monster, because you are. I need better Damon. You can't take care of me." Elena said and Damon started breathing hard, not from running, though.

"I can give you-" Elena interrupted him, yet again.

"Damon." She stepped forward until she reached him, then grabbed his chin, which was tilted down, and lifted it up. "Hey. It's alright. Look at me."

Her eyes were a sky blue again and Damon smiled.

"What's wro-" She started to ask, and this time, she cut herself off, like two different people were inside of her.

"-Damon you're a monster. I don't want to be. You could have stopped me, but you didn't! You probably even enjoyed the sight!" Her eyes were black, and even though Damon knew that it wasn't really her -the real Elena- talking, he couldn't help but let her break his cold, black, chained-up heart.

"So what are you saying?" Damon's eyes watered up and his head snapped into a different direction. Anything than let this monster see him cry.

"We're done Damon, you're brother is good, better for me. I won't let you poison my heart." She ran away, leaving Damon broken.

He fell to the ground. Anything than let Stefan have her. Anything. He could not bear to picture Stefan and Elena in the same bed... naked.
