Elena was kind of nervous, while waiting for Damon. She was fidgeting and pacing, until, finally, she heard a faraway approach.

Her head snapped up and her breath caught in her throat. A black figure was walking towards her, so casually, waving off his brother in the distance.

She watched him, without breathing or blinking, turn his head to look at her. And it seemed like he had stopped doing all of those things, too.

They stood there, across from each other, but about fifty feet separating them. Damon took a small, careful step forward and Elena did not budge.

He took that as a good sign, taking two more steps, and this time, Elena copied him. Soon enough, they were running to each other, and Damon finally had Elena in his arms after all this time.

Only it still, wasn't Elena. And he realized that, when she started pushing at his chest. He sighed, then released her.

They stared at each other for what seemed like an hour, maybe even a day, but they both knew they had no time to waste. Well, at least Damon knew that Trithle was a potential threat, and they had to leave.

What he did not know, that Elena did, was that there was no use in running, they might as well confront him, now. He was going to Mystic Falls, too.

"Damon-" Elena started in a warning voice that he knew all too well.

"Don't do this. Not now. I don't want to hear this. I can't deal with this." He interrupted her, and Elena, for once, started to feel some compassion towards him.

But it was his feelings against her survival... which one? Elena, or the person that was inside of her, was way too selfish. She had to do what had to be done.

That's how she survived, on the run, for five hundred years. She never looked back.

"I'm sorry Damon-" Her words got stopped in her throat; he had dropped to his knees, begging her, to spare him this one time.

"Damon." Her eyes were wide, and she gently took his wrists, and pulled him back onto his feet. "Listen to me."

They were inches apart, but none of them had the objective to kiss the other. Black eyes, which were once bright blue, met the other pair of black ones, that matched their features, much better.

"Please. Just tell me who you are." He pleaded her, causing her to release his wrists. He felt cool air touch them, colder then usual.

She had her back to him, her head tilted down, and she was obviously, thinking hard.

"Please... make an exception. I need to know who you are. I need to know if Elena still loves me." Damon was very persuasive, and everything he said was true, he was just exaggerating. He would never expose his feelings to this extent, unless he was desperate.

And he was.

He wasn't totally thrilled about letting his walls down, especially for this unknown creature, but he knew it was necessary.

"You know who I am." She whispered. He was frozen, waiting for her to continue on, but she didn't.

"Who?" He asked, and she turned around, and cupped his cheek. She leaned in, softly breathing on his face.

"I'll tell you the whole story..." She paused, watching him carefully. His expression revealed everything, he was so excited. He couldn't believe she was actually telling him, and because of that, she giggled. He started chuckling with her, until both of their expressions turned serious, again.

"If, you promise not to tell anyone." She said and he hesitated. He needed to tell everyone. Everyone was waiting for this, but he was just fine being the only one knowing.
