"How are you feeling?"
Nakasandal lang ngayon si Kenneth habang pinagmamasdan si Lorenzo na kakamulat lang ng mga mata. He's still lying down when he heard that question.
Sa pagkakatanda niya, the moment when he lost his consciousness was when he's still at the car and now...
Dahan dahan siyang umupo mula sa pagkakahiga. Ang comforter na nakataklob sa kaniya ay bumagsak papunta sa kaniyang hita.
He welcomed Kenneth with his puffy eyes and messy hair. Tila hindi lang siya nakikipaglaban sa kamatayan kahapon.
He just looks like a guy who woke up from his sleep. He looks perfectly fine.
And not just that, he feels fine.
"Fine..." he answered with his husky voice. Naisuklay niya ang buhok paatras at bumuntong hininga. "...how long I was out?"
"A day," Kenneth averted his gaze from him. "Someone attacked us during your absence. They captured them."
His eyes widened. Bago pa man siya makapagsalita, he gave him an assurance.
"They're fine. All of them. Though not perfectly. But they will be. It's not that serious. I've already taken care of it."
Napabuntong hininga roon si Lorenzo. Kagigising niya lang ngunit sumasakit na kaagad ang kaniyang ulo sa nadidinig.
He saw it coming, he knows someone will eventually come to them even if they're not opening any games. Someone will eventually seek for the throne desperately.
However, they don't intend to give it away quickly. Not now. Now when they still have nothing.
That's why they advised them not to fight back at all costs and avoid being captured.
Looks like they only succeeded in accomplishing his first advice.
"What did they do to them?"
"Everything they can do in a short period. Punch, kick you name it. On top of it, they said nothing. Your cousin didn't give single information—"
"I don't care if they gave something to them. I care about what actually happened to them."
"Right," he sighed. "I'm sorry."
Muli siyang napapikit dahil sa inis na nararamdaman.
He could have done something to protect them. He was the one who insisted to take the Underground World.
And he didn't hear any complaints from them, he didn't hear any objections dahil alam nila at naniniwala sila sa kaniya.
They trust his judgements at kung tingin niya makakatulong iyon sa kaniyang kagustuhan, they will go for it.
But now that they got beaten up because of that? And he did nothing?
He can't help but feel bad—no, worse than that. He should have been there, with them.
Pero ano ang ginawa niya? He's sleeping peacefully. Ni ngayon lang siya nagising dahil sa nangyari kahapon.
"Alexandra..." he said heavily. "Where is that woman?"
"Hindi ko na siya nakuha simula ng umalis siya sa mansyon. I heard nothing from her."
"That woman...she surely doesn't know when to stop. I'm afraid this is not the end to her madness..."
Hindi umimik doon si Kenneth. He's actually thinking the same thing.
Alexandra doesn't know when to stop. She has no limitations. She's going to do everything at all cost.
