"I'll just take the Lobster Ravioli."
Nasa isang fine dining restaurant ngayon ang magkapatid. Joshua asked her sister out for lunch which they don't usually do.
Kaya ngayon ay nagtataka siya. Ng makaalis na ang waiter, doon niya lang naisipang itanong ang gustong tanungin kanina pa.
"Why are we eating outside? Payday mo?"
Hindi niya iyon matanong kanina dahil nasa iba ang buong atensyon ni Joshua. He only averted his gaze from his phone when they had to leave the car.
"I'm the one who gives salaries."
"Ooohhh..." her eyes squinted as she gives her brother a smug look. "So arrogant huh?"
Nginiwian lang siya neto at saka tumutok na ulit sa kaniyang phone. "I'm not in the mood to cook."
"We have maids."
"Fine. I just really want to eat outside. Nothing special behind this. Besides, you're the one who will pay."
Kumunot ang kaniyang noo roon. Nanaig ang katahimikan sa kanila.
She's waiting for him to announce that it was a joke ngunit wala siyang nadinig.
His complete attention is now on his phone. Again.
"Nabingi ata ako?"
His eyes flicked up with his knitted brows. "Why? You're the oldest?"
Nalaglag ang kaniyang panga. Mukhang hindi siya nabibingi. Tama nga ang kaniyang nadidinig.
"Teka lang huh? All my life, you always treat me like I'm the youngest. Pero ngayong bayaran, ako ang mas matanda? Ako ang ate?"
His head tilted to one side. "Youngest? When did I?"
"Stop acting innocent!"
Nawala ang tingin sa kaniya ni Joshua at tumingin sa paligid, he suddenly felt more eyes looking at their direction.
"Ate," he called making Cheska scowl even more. "This is a fine restaurant. Unnecessary noise is strictly prohibited—"
"Joshua—!"
"Ate," muli niyang tawag. "...they're looking at us."
Napatingin na rin si Cheska sa paligid. May iilang ngang napapalingon dahil sa pagtaas ng kaniyang boses. Some are even giving them disgusting looks.
Pakiramdam tuloy niya ay nawalan siya ng manners—well, she really did.
The hell she knows about the etiquette of fancy restaurants? Ngayon lang naman siya nakapunta roon.
She drank the water that was served to them just to ease her feeling. Again, her eyes wandered around the places.
The looks have slowly left them. That's a relief.
Biglang tumama ang kaniyang tingin sa isang table hindi ganoon kalayo kung nasaan sila. It caught her attention because she noticed something...strange.
Her eyes squinted, inaaninag kung sino ang nakaupo roon. When she realized who could it be, bigla siyang inubo kasabay ng pagkasamid niya sa iniiinom na tubig.
Joshua looked at her in confusion. "What happened?"
Hindi nakasagot doon si Cheska. Paano naman siya makakasagot?
Hawak hawak niya lang ang dibdib habang inuubo ng paulit ulit. Pilit niya rin iyong hinihinaan dahil nakakatanggap nanaman siya ng mga tinginan.
"Ano bang nangyayari?" tanong muli ni Joshua with the tone of being stressed.
