Nakahalukipkip lang ngayon sila Lorenzo, Ralph, Alex at Xander habang pinagmamasdan ang isang liham na pinadala sa kanila.
"Didn't know Lees are still fond of handwritten letters," si Alex at yumuko para tignan iyon ng malinaw. "At the same time, this letter looks classy! Look at the envelope? The type of paper? Even the penmanship is so neat and fancy! And I didn't know they have their own crest!"
Above the table is a letter na pinadala sa kanila ni Cheska. Her letter is written using a black sign pen on red hard paper. Nakatago ito sa isang maliit na envelope na pula rin and it has the seal of their family.
Dear Mr. Young,
I have one of your important men. I believe his name is Kenneth Hwang. I also have all of your men that you ordered to attack us. Come and see me at the headquarters to retrieve them. If you don't come alone, you know what comes next. Their lives are on you. I guess I don't have to write the address, do I? I'm waiting in the throne room in the main building.
"This is a trap," Ralph said firmly. "I am telling you, Lorenzo. You have done enough of stupidity this week. Huwag kang magpauto sa sulat na ito."
"But they have Kenneth and some of our men," Lorenzo reminded in case Ralph didn't read the first sentences. "I cannot just leave them?"
"Do you really think they're alive? Those men attack that family! There's no way they're going to leave them alive!"
"Paano si Kenneth? Do you want me to give up on him?"
"He could be just somewhere? Trying to calm himself?"
"Calm himself?" tuluyan na niyang hinarap ang pinsan. "Halos isang linggo na siyang hindi bumabalik. Hindi rin natin matawagan. Kenneth has never done this before. The Lees might already have him. I attacked their family."
"Naisip mo man lang ba ito bago ka umatake?" Xander asked. Then he looked away. "You didn't even think of this through. You didn't ask for our opinion before ordering that attack."
Napaiwas na lang din ng tingin si Lorenzo. Sa isang linggo na iyon, hindi na natigil ang kaniyang mga kaibigan na magtampo sa kaniya. Naiintinidhan naman niya ang kanilang pagkadismaya. He was really stupid that day.
Napangiwi na lang silang tatlo habang si Alex ay manghang mangha pa rin sa papel na nasa lamesa. Inamoy niya pa iyon.
"Ang bango ng papel!"
"Ignorante ka ba?" Xander asked.
"You cannot expect me to act normally after receiving a letter from Lees?" he totally ignored the insult. Tinaasan siya nito ng kilay. "Hindi mo ba naiisip? This is our first communication with them! Though I was expecting a call but looks like a letter is way cooler."
"You are coming," Ralph stated after his silence. "There's no way you're not coming."
"This could be a letter from the master...or even from the former mistress," he said. "This is the opportunity I have been waiting for. I have been looking forward to meeting them personally. Please, Ralph."
"We are coming with you kung—"
"Hindi ko alam kung nabasa mo ba ang buong liham pero—"
"I saw what's inside that paper but I am not going to entertain it!"
Lorenzo sighed. Para siyang bata dahil sa kung paano siya pagalitan ni Ralph. Walang wala talaga ang katandaan niya sa kaniyang mga kaibigan.
"You are entering a lion's den for Pete's sake! What do you want us to do? Sit here and do nothing?"
