Chapter 037

Everyone around them is chatting. Everyone has something to say to their friends. Some are chuckling and there are some who are busy on their devices.

But there is only two persons inside the café na wala talagang ginagawa. They're just sitting. Ni wala pang lumalabas sa kanilang bibig simula ng makapasok sila at hanggang ngayon na sinerve na ang kanilang inorder.

Nakasandal lang si Lorenzo sa kaniyang upuan habang ang mga daliri ay pinaglalaruan ang hawakan ng baso while the other one is just resting on his lap. He sipped on his drink habang hindi inaalis ang tingin kay Cheska.

It's been a long since the last time he saw her. Hindi katulad nila Alex na noong kailan lang ay nakita nila ito. Nagtataka tuloy siya. According to him, Cheska changed drastically.

But that's not what he's seeing. She changed but not that much. Ano pa nga ba ang inaasahan niya, si Alex ang nagsabi noon sa kaniya.

Cheska is just playing with her fingers below the table kaya hindi iyon nakikita ni Lorenzo. Kinakabahan siya. Siya man ang nagyaya na makipagusap, now that they're sitting at the same table, nawawala ang kaniyang dila.

Just like what happened before. Mukhang kahit ilang buwan na ang lumipas, natatameme pa rin siya kay Lorenzo.

"Why do you want to talk to me?"

Sa wakas, nagsalita na si Lorenzo. It's like her go signal to speak. His voice sounds soothing compare before kaya kahit papaano ay nawawala ang kaniyang kaba.

"I want to ask how you're doing."

Napakurap kurap si Lorenzo. So this talk is to ask him how he's doing?

That's great. He wants to ask her too about some things.

"I'm fine. Doing fine. Ikaw?" muli siyang sumimsim. Matagal bago niya dinugtungan ang sinabi. "Alex told me you're dating Sebastian. Is that true?"

She shuddered to her seat. She should have at least expected that. That's Alex. Syempre hindi niya papalagpasin ang ganoong klaseng chikka.

Marahan siyang tumango tango, hindi makatingin sa kaniya. "We have been dating for a while now."

His lips curled up. Bumaba ang kaniyang tingin sa baso na hawak—his pointer finger is just caressing its body.

"That's a shame..." he muttered. His eyes flicked up. "As his friend—I'm not sure if that's the right term—I think I have to assure you your safety on Sebastian's hand. He might look playful at some times hinding hindi niya lalaruin ang ganitong bagay."

"Yea...I know that..."

"I hope he's making you happy. That guy can protect you freely."

Cheska looked at him. She fell silent for a while before asking, "Si Alexandra? How is she? Nagising na ba siya?"

"Not yet," and he sighed deeply. "There is progress but she still not opening her eyes. Maybe sooner or later she'll regain her consciousness."

She sighed in relief. Napainom na siya sa kaniyang inorder na vanilla shake. Mabuti naman at nasabi na niya ang dalawang tanong na gusto niyang itanong sa kaniya.

"Hindi ko alam kung dapat ko ba itong tanungin but..."

Lorenzo's brows furrowed a bit. He waited patiently for her next question.

"How's your search for Lees?"

"Why..." his eyes narrowed. "...are you asking?"

Nag angat siya ng tingin. She looked straight into his eyes. "I told you, I want to ask how you're doing. Minsan mo kong nakasama sa paghahanap mo. It's not that strange to be curious, hindi ba?"
