" ... this must be the spook house
another song with no singers
lyrics/no voices
& interrupted solos
unseen performances

Are we ghouls?
Children of horror?
The joke?

Don't tell nobody, don't tell a soul
Are we animals? Have we gone crazy?"

There was nothing but silence. Silence that surrounded my head. Choking me as I stood there frozen in my steps. I stared at the maple wood beneath my feet as my eyes became blurry, and the rest of my heart was ripped from my chest. I thought my ears had forsaken me. I thought that what I heard was false. It couldn't be true. Somehow, someway...I had to be dreaming.

Then I felt a touch on my bare shoulders. The coolness of her tips caused goosebumps to rise from my skin. "I'm your mother," Her heavy voice loud in my ears.

Peering my eyes away from the floor, I allowed them to make contact with my reflection across the room. Catching sight of the tears that was invading my face. I closed then and took a deep breath, "Sasha," I said, turning to her. "Don't play games with me." My voice was low. Emotionless. "Do not play games with me."

Her eyebrows furrowed as she shook her head slowly from side to side. " I'm not playing no games," she said. "I am your mother."

"I don't believe you," I said, after a moment of silence

"I don't believe you," I said, after a moment of silence.

"She's telling the truth, Ali." Liana said from across the room. I looked at her, finding that everyone that was once on my back patio was now standing in my large living room with flabbergasted looks on their faces. "Just...hear her out." She plead. "Please."

"If you just listen to me, I'll tell you everything you want to know." Sasha approached me as she spoke. "You just have to listen."

I backed away from her. "Why should I believe anything you tell me?"

Her mouth opened, but no words came out.

Liana was now walking up to us. "Ali...I know you're upset, but please, if you listen you will understand." It was the look in Liana's dark eyes that made actually consider it.

"Fine!" I snapped. I turned to the girls and pointed towards the foyer. "Everybody out!" I yelled.

They stared at me like deers caught in headlights.

"What are you standing there for? Get out of my house! Now!"

Slowly, they turned to exit the room. Whispering things amongst themselves as they grabbed their things. I waited patiently to hear the door close and when it finally did, Aleena walked back into the house. Her eyebrows creasing in confusion and her concern.
