With a turn of a key, I unlocked the door to my house with one hand while a suitcase was being held by the other. I turned the knob and pushed open the door. A familiar scent is what welcomed not only me but my mother too.

I stood in front of the door and smiled at her. "Come in," I said as I extended my hand out into the foyer. "You can put your jacket in the closet right there.

Her eyes flickered to the door in front of us and she pressed her lips into a set smile and proceeded to pull off her jacket as she walked to the closet door. "Your house is pretty nice," she told me as she pulled open the door, and reached for a hanger.

"Thanks," I closed the door behind me and let out relieving sigh.

Momma had just been discharged today and when I say getting her out that hospital without Miguel or Sasha seeing her was the hardest, most nerve-racking thing I've ever had to do. I really mean that. Liana had informed about the back way we could take where we wouldn't be seen, and that consisted of us going through a kitchen and everything. And then there was the paparazzi problem. The hospital is infested with them. They practically camp out there now. So much so that LAPD has to monitor the doors of the hospital in order to keep them from breaking into the hospital. That was yet another problem because Momma is—guess what—a felon who is supposed to be dead.

I felt like I was breaking someone out of prison. Like I was on a rescue mission, and I constantly had to look over my shoulder over and over again to make sure a cop or some idiot with a camera wasn't coming around the corner. I would've taken Momma back to the hotel, but I thought it was best that she stayed with me and Alana instead for two reasons:

A) To keep an eye on her.

B) To get information out of her.

I that knew there are something's she's still not telling me and when I had the chance I planned to question her to fullest to get everything I needed to know. It was crucial that did.

I led her to the living room and placed my keys on the side table near the entrance. "I'll take your bags to your room," I told her. She was observing the area before as I spoke. "You can just...sit if you want."

She looked at me and nodded.

I turned on my heels towards the hallway. Walking slowly at first, but then picking up my steps once I far enough away that she wouldn't hear. I quickly placed her suitcase in one of the guest rooms and turned quickly turned to the other where I swung open the door and found Alana standing over her bed changing Cara's diaper. "We need to talk," I huffed. Shutting the door behind me.

Laney look at me, startled. "About..." she questioned cautiously.

"Momma's here," I told her.

Her face fell in confusion. "What?"

"I had to bring her home."

"Why?" She seemed bothered by that little bit of information.

I tossed my hands up and leaned on the dresser that was behind me. "It's better that she stays here," I glanced down at my niece who was chewing in a chewing ring and kicking her feet. "That way we can keep an eye on her."

"Keep an eye on her for what," she demanded to know.

All of her questions was irritating me and sighed in utter frustration. "Look, I'll let you know at a later time. Right now, I need you to just...stay here with her while I go take care of some business."

Laney's eyes flashed at me in disbelief as she fastened the diaper on Cara. "Why do I have to stay here with her," she whined.

"Because other than Liana, you're the only one knows that she's here. And Liana is at work right now, and I have some things I have to do." She didn't answer me, she just quietly picked up Cara and hoisted her on her hip. "Besides," I continued as I watched her clean up the mess on the bed. "You always wanted to know her. Now you have the chance."
