Leena's POV
It had been four years since I found out that actress, Vanessa Holiday was my half sister. And that was something that I had never dreamed of happening. It was like a living nightmare. It was like I was finding out that my arch enemy-a girl I couldn't stand. Someone I would just love to see get ran over by sixteen eighteen wheelers-was suddenly my blood. I couldn't stand that bitch. There was always something about her that told me to not go around her. I saw it, and so did Liyah. It wasn't just because Vanessa had something major against Liyah. No, Liyah saw something in people. The bad that told her they couldn't be trusted, and she listened to that voice. She never gave it a second thought, or even questioned it. When she got that feeling, she listened. Although, the juicy rivalry between the two of them was as real as God himself.
I went years without claiming that girl. I didn't reach out to her when our father died, and it was only small talk at her parties she threw. It seems pretty sad, but I hated her. She was a bitch and I didn't think she was anything worth claiming. But, for the sake of Nikki, I had to make an exception. Even though it made me vomit in my mouth a bit, I called her over to my home for dinner-as well as her cousin Stacy-and to make things less uncomfortable for Liyah, I called Alana, and Tammy over. Marked it as a girl night with a secret motive. I only hoped that there would be no drama.
Vanessa was five months pregnant with her second child that was allegedly by Damon. I told her to bring her son, Damien, along for the sake of Stacy's son, Austin, who was three years old now. Ari would also be there so they could all keep each other company. The baby she had in the oven would spark up a good conversation between the mothers and soon-to-be mothers at the table. I thought about cooking, but that wasn't something that I knew how to do very well so I hired a cook to do the job for me. Steak was on the menu that so, by the looks of things...it seemed that it all could work out.
"I can't believe your making me do this." Liyah looked tired. Her gray eyes we droopy, and she sat in on of the chairs with a face so dead I thought she might fall over. She had Ari standing between her legs while she fixed one of the buns on her head.
"Think about Nikki," I reminded her. I placed some glasses around the table. "Besides, Alana and Tammy are here. And Randy's apparently coming to." Laney informed me at the last minute that she wanted Randy over with us. He would be her ride home and she thought it would be rude not to invite him. I really didn't mind because I knew that Randy had a great sense of humor. When things ever got too serious, his stupid ass would say something dumb to lighten mood.
"Randy?" She looked at me, confused. "Wouldn't Randy feel a little weird around all these females?"
"I asked Laney the same thing. "I shrugged my shoulder and sat in the chair next to her, " I guess he'll just....play with the kids."
A mere smile came on her face then went away.
"You okay?"
Shaking her head, she began to sigh. "I really need to take a break, to be honest."
"Yeah, all that working ain't good for health, Li."
"You sound like Michael," she chuckled.
"Momma, are you done?" Ari moaned. She hated having her hair combed.
Liyah quickly placed two small pink butterfly's near Ari's buns then turned her around so that she could examine them. "Yeah...I'm done." She told her.
