I glanced out towards the sky, letting their words sink into my brain. I began chewing my bottom lip as I tried to comprehend them. I was finding it impossible to wrap my mind around it. "I'm sorry. What?" I had to have misunderstood their words. I had to.
"We're gonna give it a try again," Sasha said slowly.
I only stared at them.
"I know it's kind of sudden and all, but I do love your father and-"
"Okay, stop." Her words were making me cringe. I looked at the both of them as they sat in front of me and shook my head. "You've only been in each other's life for seven months. Don't you think it's a little...too soon for that?"
She frowned her eyebrows at me and tittered. "Aaliyah, you and Michael-"
"Don't bring him into this. This has nothing to do with him or our marriage." I was frustrated with the fact that she would even use us as an example. She was never too fond of me marrying Michael after we had only been together for a year after a three year break up. She said we needed to at least give it time to see if we would work out past two years.. She was looking like a total hypocrite now, and it was pissing me off.

"I'm just saying, you really can't say anything." She laughed, shaking her head.
I narrowed my eyes at her. "Y'all haven't seen or heard from each other in almost twenty-six years."I enunciated each word as if she was a child, because clearly she wasn't getting the point. "Now you're back in each other lives and seven months later your hollering about getting married?"
"Well, I-"
Miguel held his hand out, stopping in her words. He took her hand in his and looked into brown eyes. "Let me talk to her," he said, smiling at her.
Sasha's eyes averted to me, then back at him. "Fine," she said as she stood up. "I'll be in the kitchen if you need me."
I watched as she walked back into the house without even looking back once. I turned back to Miguel to find him staring back at me. He held his hand over towards the seat that was across from him, inviting me to sit down.
