Leena's POV
"How did this happen?" Liyah's face was flushed red as she paced back and forth across the floor. Her hand was clenched tightly to her cellular phone. "How....That is my personal business! It is not meant for the whole damn world to know!" She was on the phone speaking to David, the person she usually went to for things like this. "Look, I don't care about all that. I want those pictures out the papers....Well, make a statement!"
We watched for the past few minutes as Liyah went from being worried to her being pissed about the news article. She was outraged. If I knew there was something Liyah tried to keep secret it was her self harming. It was something she was ashamed of. Something that we were told to never bring up after she stopped. Liyah wanted it to be forgotten. Buried with the rest of secrets. Now it was printed in every newspaper world wide.
"No! I am not doing the interview, David!" She seethed.
Interview?
"I can't! Not now!" She stopped and glanced towards the ceiling as she listened. "You don't understand, David. I just found out something about myself that is very life changing. I can't sit down and do a fucking interview when I haven't even figured it out."
Tammy and I exchanged glances from across the room. She looked just as shocked as Alana who was sitting in Liyah's chair looking up at her with confused eyes.
Neither of them knew anything about Liyah's past. They were just as clueless as the rest of the world.
"I don't give two shits about what the company wants. I'm not about to go out there and lie to the fans!"
Tammy then stood up and walked over to me. "I don't understand..."she whispered. "How long have been doing that?" She was eyeing Liyah's bare arms now. There no traces of scars or cuts at all. Just some Egyptian tattoo she got a while back.
"She stopped," I whispered back to her. " She hasn't done it since 1983."
"Why did she do it?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "A lot of reasons."
"I'm not doing the interview, David. End of story!" She snatched the phone from her ear and ended the phone call. She then stood there, quietly, her hand on her hip. Looking down at the phone as if she waiting for someone to call. We all looked at her, waiting for her to say something, but she didn't say anything.
