His arm was around Malia's shoulders, but he wasn't smiling. He was talking to her, but his eyes didn't light up while speaking the words. He was joking, but he didn't laugh along. When he looked over his shoulders his gaze met yours and you sighed, your lips curling up a bit.

You couldn't remember anymore why the two of you had broken up. For some reason you had thought that it was time to let Stiles go, time to move on, time to face the world on your own.

And for some reason he had thought that you had been right. He had nodded, his hand had slid out of yours and he had left your house and had never come back.

You had thought that the pain you were feeling was just because the two of you had been together for quite some time. You had thought that time would heal all wounds. You had thought that it would feel better some day.

But it didn't.

"Hey..." Stiles walked to your table and pointed at the pencil you were biting. "I've forgotten my pen and I wondered if I could borrow one of yours?" It were the first words he spoke ever since the two of you had broken up and you frowned your eyebrows.

"Doesn't Malia have a pen?" Secretly you hoped that Stiles and Malia weren't happy together. Secretly you hoped that Stiles would break up with her. Secretly you hoped that he would come back to you.

"No, her pencil has broken and..." Stiles scratched the back of his neck and his cheeks blushed. "So, how are you doing? Is life as a single what you had hoped it to be?" He grabbed a chair and sat down next to you and you sighed.

What did he want you to say? That you would want to pull him closer? That you would want to ask him if you could start all over? That you were angry that you had never seen how amazing he was until he had walked out of that door? That the pain of missing him was getting worse and worse every day?

"I'm fine. I'm doing great. And you?" You closed your eyes and swallowed. Where was the hole in the floor when you needed it? Where was the wall to bang your head to when you needed it?

"Yeah, me too. I'm happy." His muscles tensed and his eyes weren't smiling along with his lips. "It's just..." He cocked his head a little and he stared at Malia for a short moment before looking back at you. "It's just not as good as things were with you."

Your eyes widened and you felt your heart racing in your chest. You bit your lip and you felt your lips curling up a little. "I know what you mean." You sighed and you avoided his glance. "I've been stupid, okay? I shouldn't have let you go." Your eyes met his and you felt a tear rolling down your cheek. "Ever since I dumped you, I've been trying to find ways to get you back and..."

Stiles placed a finger on your lips and he wiped the tear away with his thumb. "Let me talk to Malia, okay?" He smiled, a real smile this time. "I'll fix it. We'll fix it." He whispered and he leaned a little towards you, his forehead pressed to yours. "I've missed you."

You smiled and you felt your entire body tingling. "I've missed you too."
